Playground Monitor (Port Authority)

Salary Range: $17.00 To $22.00 Hourly Playground Monitor (2 Part-Time Roles) Location: 854 West 180th Street, New York, NY 10033 (On-Site) Schedule: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, daily (7 days/week) Note: This position is not eligible for benefits Company Overview Enlightened is looking for Playground Monitors to support safe, secure, and efficient operations within a designated public-use area. This role is responsible for monitoring daily activity, ensuring compliance with site rules, and providing a high level of customer service to the public, including children and families. The Playground Monitor serves as the first point of observation and response, maintaining situational awareness and escalating incidents to the appropriate personnel as needed. We are currently seeking to fill two (2) part-time positions to support ongoing operational coverage. Position Responsibilities Monitor daily activity to ensure a safe and orderly environment, particularly for children and families Enforce site rules, policies, and procedures Maintain situational awareness and identify potential safety or security concerns Respond to minor incidents and customer concerns; escalate issues to supervisory or security personnel as needed Provide professional, courteous assistance to visitors, including children and caregivers Observe and report suspicious, unsafe, or non-compliant behavior in accordance with established protocols Maintain a visible presence to support site operations and promote a positive customer experience Document and communicate incidents, observations, and updates to leadership as required Required Qualifications Ability to work effectively in a public-facing, high-traffic environment Comfortable working in environments with children and families Strong observation skills and sound judgment Effective communication and the ability to de-escalate situations professionally Ability to follow established procedures and escalation protocols Must be reliable and dependable with a strong attendance record Experience in customer service, recreation, or a similar environment preferred Ability to stand, walk, and remain attentive for extended periods Work Environment Outdoor, public-facing setting with consistent pedestrian traffic Regular interaction with children and families Exposure to varying weather conditions Requires standing, walking, and active monitoring throughout the shift Additional Requirements Must be able to successfully complete a background check and drug screening in accordance with client requirements Must be able to complete additional screening requirements related to working in environments with children Must comply with all safety, conduct, and operational policies Equal Opportunity Statement Enlightened is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, disability, or any other federal, state, or local protected class.
