About this job
As Portfolio Analyst // Asset Management you will own the day-to-day management and performance of JUMO's portfolios on behalf of our funding partners. You will combine hands-on portfolio analysis with the practical work of allocating assets, configuring changes and reporting to funders and regulators. You will report to the Asset Management Lead.

You will
Manage portfolio performance
  • Support the financial performance and return targets of an assigned set of funding partners, working with the Portfolio Strategy team.
  • Allocate microcredit assets across geographies, risk segments and products to meet each partner’s mandate, risk appetite and return hurdle.
  • Analyse portfolios to spot risk and opportunity, and recommend changes to lending strategy before issues arise.
Execute allocation and configuration changes
  • Prepare, check and submit allocation and configuration changes (tier changes, yield targets, risk-taker settings) with complete, correctly scoped information.
Manage liquidity
  • Manage funder e-wallet positions so there is enough liquidity for targeted lending, working with Treasury to move capital between markets.
  • Forecast lending volume, performance and cash flow.
Report to funders and regulators
  • Produce funder packs and regulatory submissions that are complete, reconciled and on time.
  • Build and maintain BI reporting and documented, repeatable analysis.
Improve and collaborate
  • Help improve processes, controls and tooling across asset and risk management.
  • Build relationships with Treasury, Risk, Product, Data, Engineering and Partnerships, and engage with design documents and system changes that affect your work.

You will need
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a risk, credit or portfolio analyst in financial services.
  • A degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Risk Management or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail: you reconcile before you send and catch your own errors.
  • Ownership and initiative: you deliver to committed dates and flag early when something will slip.
  • A good understanding of credit products, the credit lifecycle, portfolio metrics and forecasting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, SQL and a BI tool (Power BI, Superset, Tableau or similar).
  • Clear communication and confidence working across functions.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, lean environment and motivation for JUMO’s mission.

Bonus if you have
  • CFA, FRM, CA or CAIA (completed or in progress).
  • Credit scoring or risk management experience on consumer portfolios.
  • Experience preparing regulatory or funder reporting packs.
  • Experience with configuration-as-code or ticket-driven change processes.

We ask a lot of each other at JUMO, but we give a lot too.

You will love
  • Collaborating with smart, engaging people in an inspiring work environment.
  • Working for impact.
  • Growing and learning continuously, with loads of encouragement and support.
  • Boldly taking risks as we navigate new challenges.
  • Flexible work practices enabling your best delivery.
  • Being autonomous and empowered to lead.
  • A stack of leading-edge technologies.

Remote First
You will be based in South Africa. Our environment is designed to foster innovation and enable collaboration, and we operate a remote first working approach where working remotely is our default way of working. We have co-working spaces available in Cape Town for collaboration and connection and for the use of those who value and want to work out of an office. You have flexibility where to work from, as long as you are set up to work remotely and have access to a strong and reliable connection, as we value online facetime for collaboration at JUMO.

Diversity and Inclusion
At JUMO, we firmly believe that diversity strengthens our teams. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive recruitment process that cultivates an environment where all individuals can be authentic, collaborate, and thrive.
