An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Portfolio Executive to join Civil Manufacturing Operations as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
Manufacturing Operations is a global team of nearly 9,000 people with 3 core Manufacturing Business Units (MBUs): Compression Systems, Turbines Systems, Assembly, Test & Control Systems. Our Manufacturing teams are enabled by specialist functional support from Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Planning & Control, HS&E, Portfolio Management, Project Management and Lean Improvement. Together we are a critical Civil Aerospace delivery organisation focussed on safety, quality, cost and delivery, enabling our value streams to optimise P&L and manage risks.
The Portfolio Executive is accountable for co-ordinating the effective and efficient operation of portfolio management practices. Providing leadership and reporting of the collation of demand, prioritisation and control of projects and programmes, in line with the strategic and operational objectives of the business. Supporting the business leadership team through appropriate portfolio governance, they will ensure that a consistent approach to benefits management is applied across the portfolio and that benefits realisation is optimised from the organisation’s investment in change.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the Manufacturing Operations portfolio, integrating strategy, delivery, affordability, risk, and investment decisions into a coherent forward-looking plan that supports business objectives and operational priorities.
- Own the Engineering Spend and Capital budgets for Manufacturing Operations, ensuring alignment, governance, and executive approval across the Five-Year Plan (5YP) and other business planning cycles.
- Drive portfolio governance and prioritisation processes, balancing capacity, resources, funding, and business risk to ensure the highest-value initiatives are delivered within affordability constraints.
- Provide executive-level insight and challenge on capital investment, engineering spends, resource demand, and benefit realisation, translating complex information into clear recommendations that support informed decision-making.
- Coordinate stakeholders across Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and Programme teams to align plans, resolve conflicts, manage trade-offs, and deliver integrated business outcomes.
- Maintain an enterprise-wide view of operational, supply chain, and business continuity risks, ensuring portfolio interventions, investment decisions, and recovery actions support delivery commitments and long-term resilience.
Preferred requirements:
- Strong ability to take a holistic business view, ensuring alignment across multiple processes, functions, and performance metrics.
- Excellent analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful insights, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Comfortable operating in highly ambiguous environments and navigating across multiple business processes and organisational priorities.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leaders and cross-functional teams through formal governance structures.
- Strong programme and portfolio management expertise, with the ability to establish robust frameworks, controls, and delivery disciplines.
- Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets, investment decisions, affordability challenges, and business case development.
- Collaborative, resilient, and pragmatic.
- Experience of capital investment projects and/or operational budget management would be beneficial.
