Portfolio Manager III The Portfolio Manager III (PM) is accountable for the long-term performance, reliability, and value creation of a portfolio of renewable energy assets. This role serves as the primary owner representative across operations, OEMs, service providers, and internal stakeholders, with authority to escalate issues, drive corrective action, and implement portfolio-wide improvements. Unlike junior and mid-level portfolio management roles, the Portfolio Manager III is expected to define strategy, challenge legacy practices, and materially improve asset outcomes, not simply administer contracts or track performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Portfolio Performance Ownership Own portfolio-level performance across availability, production, reliability, and lifecycle cost Identify underperformance trends and lead cross-site root cause analysis Drive corrective strategies that measurably improve energy yield and asset health Translate operational issues into financial and risk-based impacts for ownership Serve as escalation point for chronic performance issues OEM Management & Escalation Act as primary point of contact for OEMs (inverters, trackers, BESS, monitoring platforms) Enforce warranty, service-level, and performance obligations Lead OEM escalations for chronic failures, systemic defects, and RMA delays Coordinate technical reviews, failure analyses, and corrective action plans Challenge OEM recommendations when they conflict with owner interests System Maintenance and Repairs Ensure preventative maintenance activities are scheduled and executed per contractual obligations Oversee completion of preventative maintenance within required timeframes Identify and manage additional services such as washing and vegetation control Optimize maintenance spend to maximize ROI and minimize production loss System Performance & Financial Analytics Analyze system performance and maintain accurate performance reports Identify root causes of underperforming systems Recommend corrective actions and long-term mitigations Report monthly on performance guarantees, when applicable Maintain accurate work order documentation Financial Management & Reporting Interpret contracts to ensure accurate understanding of production requirements Report on site and portfolio financial performance as needed Track costs related to production losses and corrective maintenance Support OpEx vs CapEx decision- making Vendor & Stakeholder Management Oversee third-party O&M providers and specialty contractors Hold vendors accountable for response times and repair quality Recommend corrective actions or vendor replacement when necessary Communicate professionally with asset owners and internal stakeholders Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, renewable energy, engineering, or similar) 8–12+ years of experience in solar and/or BESS operations, asset management, or O&M Deep knowledge of solar assets, OEM warranties, RMAs, and service agreements Strong understanding of availability, PI, MTTR, and performance drivers Commitment to safe industrial work practices and site safety Professional verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Location : Flexible (hybrid, in-office- Houston, remote)
