About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Performance and Reporting Assistant to work for our client within the rail and infrastructure sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the office, that will be based in London Puddle Dock, with travel to sites and offices across the Southern Region.
Our client is seeking a Performance and Reporting Assistant to join its Programme Controls function, supporting the delivery of a major railway renewals portfolio. The role will focus primarily on reporting and analysis, turning project data into clear, practical information to support timely, evidence-based decisions. You will develop reports and Power BI dashboards, analyse data, work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and identify opportunities to improve reporting processes through continuous improvement and the effective use of AI.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and produce scheduled and ad hoc reports and analysis to meet changing business requirements and agreed quality standards.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and Excel-based reporting tools to provide clear and accurate management information.
  • Analyse project data and translate findings into practical insights that support effective decision-making.
  • Engage stakeholders to understand, prioritise and respond to reporting requirements and queries.
  • Improve reporting processes through continuous improvement, including the appropriate use of AI tools to simplify processes and generate insights from data.

About You

  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and dashboards, with working knowledge required from the start of the assignment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, alongside experience analysing data accurately and presenting information clearly.
  • Experience of business analysis, including gathering, understanding and prioritising stakeholder requirements.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for analysis, reporting or productivity, ideally including working with large datasets, generating insights or using agents to simplify processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across a broad stakeholder group and support continuous improvement.
