Why Join Ford of Mexico?
Celebrating over 100 years of legacy in Mexico, we are more than just a business we are a vibrant, collaborative community of over 14,000 innovators shaping the global future of transportation. At Ford, we build what matters, grow where it counts, and drive progress with heart. Whether you are collaborating at our state-of-the-art Global Technology and Business Center (GTBC) or manufacturing iconic, award-winning vehicles in our world-class plants, you will find a culture evolving together, built on trust, passion, and shared purpose. Here, your work moves people forward, and your growth is personal. Join us, and let’s build what’s next together.
In this position...
As part of our Powertrain Engineering and Quality organization, you will serve as the pivotal technical bridge between Quality, Product Development, and Calibration teams. In this role, you will move beyond data observation to take ownership of end-to-end solutions, resolving complex powertrain controls and calibration challenges across combustion and electrified vehicle architectures. By leading cross-functional task forces and driving robust software, hardware, and calibration fixes into production and the field, you will directly safeguard vehicle integrity and elevate customer satisfaction worldwide.
What you'll do...
- Drive End-to-End Resolution: Lead the full lifecycle of complex powertrain controls and calibration field concerns, managing the process from initial anomaly detection through root cause discovery to verified permanent corrective action.
- Lead Technical Task Forces: Orchestrate cross-functional rapid-response engineering teams to investigate root causes using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) across hardware, software, and calibration systems.
- Influence Engineering Priorities: Negotiate with engineering and calibration departments by formulating data-backed technical business cases that drive prioritized resolution and secure key resources.
- Manage Field Fix Rollout: Coordinate the deployment of software updates, service calibrations, and launch-critical resolutions, aligning manufacturing plants, service operations, and engineering teams to meet aggressive resolution timelines.
- Verify Solution Effectiveness: Track post-remedy field performance to ensure defects are eradicated without introducing secondary failure modes, and lead the development of Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for field technicians.
- Prevent Recurrence & Embed Best Practices: Capture engineering lessons learned and failure mode data to systematically integrate findings into future program design rules, diagnostic monitors, and baseline calibration datasets.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant engineering experience (typically 3 to 5 years) in automotive problem-solving, quality engineering, systems engineering, or powertrain calibration.
- Demonstrated experience leading root-cause analysis investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, or Red X).
- Working technical knowledge of powertrain systems (combustion, hybrid, or electric), diagnostic monitors, or vehicle-level data acquisition.
- Proven ability to drive results and align cross-functional teams in a matrixed engineering environment.
- Valid driver’s license to support on-vehicle data collection and evaluation activities.
Even better, you may have...
Hands-on proficiency with vehicle networking and calibration tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, or AVL PUMA) and agile issue-tracking platforms (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Professional quality certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Working knowledge of global vehicle emissions standards and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated track record of managing rapid-response engineering initiatives and significantly reducing resolution time for complex technical concerns.
- Strong executive communication skills with proven ability to translate complex engineering issues into clear, actionable technical summaries.
