About Us:
Greenjets is an innovative engineering company developing high-performance propulsion systems for the aviation market. Our work spans research and development, engine production, aircraft systems, technical integration and flight testing. We are committed to delivering high-grade engineering and best-in-class propulsion for unmanned aircraft.
We operate in a technically demanding, fast-moving environment, combining rigorous engineering with pragmatic execution. We focus on delivering reliable, high-performance, cost-effective systems that can be industrialised and deployed at scale.
About the Role
Greenjets is seeking a Powertrain Systems & Flight Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of electric and hybrid propulsion systems from our Germany operations. This is a practical engineering role for someone who is equally comfortable defining requirements and interfaces at a computer, working hands-on with hardware in the workshop or laboratory, and deploying to test locations to support ground and flight trials.
You will connect design engineering with real-world test activity. Working across electrical, mechanical, controls, software and aircraft teams, you will help turn operational needs into coherent powertrain requirements, integrate propulsion hardware into aircraft systems, design safe and effective tests, analyse data and feed evidence back into product decisions.
The role suits a curious, methodical and pragmatic engineer who enjoys owning technical problems through the full development cycle rather than working only in design, analysis or operations.
What You'll Do:
Support the development and management of powertrain system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and testing, ensuring all requirements are properly verified.
Help integrate key propulsion components, including batteries, power distribution systems, motor controllers, electric motors, sensors, and cooling systems.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including system designs, wiring diagrams, test plans, risk assessments and engineering reports.
Work hands-on with propulsion and aircraft hardware, supporting assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting and system checks.
Plan and support ground and flight tests to assess powertrain performance, energy efficiency, thermal behaviour, reliability and safety.
Monitor and analyse test data, identify technical issues and recommend improvements to system performance and design.
Participate in testing activities in Germany and other approved locations, working closely with pilots, flight operations and engineering teams.
Support technical reviews, safety assessments, test readiness checks and verification of system requirements.
Contribute to aircraft safety and airworthiness activities, ensuring safe integration and testing of propulsion systems.
Work with suppliers and technical partners on component selection, technical questions and integration challenges.
Help develop propulsion systems from early prototypes into reliable, production-ready solutions.
What you’ll bring
A degree, technical qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
Experience in powertrain systems, systems engineering, electrical integration or testing, ideally in aerospace, UAVs, automotive or motorsport.
Good understanding of system requirements, integration, testing and verification processes.
Hands-on experience assembling, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software systems.
Ability to analyse test data, identify issues and clearly communicate findings.
Willingness to travel regularly and support testing activities at different locations, including outdoor environments.
Strong English communication skills; German language capability is highly desirable for collaboration with local partners, suppliers and authorities.
A structured, safety-focused and team-oriented approach, with the flexibility to work in a fast-paced development environment.
Location and Employment
This role is based in Germany, with regular travel to integration facilities and test locations in Germany and, where required, other European or international programme locations. The position is offered as a permanent role or contract engagement depending on experience and availability. Compensation will be aligned with experience and scope of responsibility.
