Description Our Sacramento/ Davis office has an opening for a self-motivated engineer with 8-12 years of experience to work on projects related to groundwater wells, drinking water, water reuse and stormwater. Responsibilities Deliver projects through planning, design, and creation of civil engineering plans, specifications, and reports. Supervise the maintenance of BC’s project management delivery requirements. Direct and implement project risk mitigation strategies. Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts for project deliverables. Verify compliance and resolve apparent conflicts with relevant codes, laws, and permits to ensure regulatory adherence in all tasks performed. Serves as a lead technical resource for multiple client service teams. Contribute to the development and maintenance of BC Standards. Engage on multiple top Area pursuits by providing technical contributions for proposals and presentations. Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs. Preferred Requirements Manage projects and tasks for projects related groundwater wells and drinking water supply projects. Participate in business development as part of a client service team. Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and well and water system design related activities. Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents. Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications as part of engineering services during construction. Assist with submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders for construction projects. Conduct field work as necessary for various projects. Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers). Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time and on budget. Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s QA/QC process. Mentorship Provides mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles. Skills and Competencies Project ability to direct and organize civil teams to complete multiple tasks. Proven ability to effectively manage team communications. Proven capability to solve complex, undefined problems. Expertise in the design and planning of civil engineering projects. Keen understanding of regulatory compliance for relevant codes, laws, and permits and impacts of changing regulatory environments. Understanding of delivering complex projects and multiple delivery alternatives . Experience Typically, a minimum of 10 years of work experience in civil engineering or related field. A history of leading large-scale projects and initiatives with strategic importance. Professionally licensed. Typically certified in the SMS Framework, and progressing through the SMS competencies . Preferred Experience Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work under deadlines Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field required Desire to work on projects related to groundwater, drinking water, water reuse, and stormwater California PE license Experience including: Design of water infrastructure facilities (wells, pump stations, pipelines, etc), groundwater infrastructure facility design experience preferred. Engineering studies and analysis. Managing projects or tasks, including budget and schedule Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts Excellent technical writing and communication skills Ability to work both independently and on large coordinated teams Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites Knowledge of standard software including MS Office, Outlook, and Bluebeam Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems Education A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent experience is required. Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future. Location B: $128,000 - $175,000 Location C: $140,000 - $191,000 You can view which BC location applies to you here.
