Principal Consultant – Strategy & Transformation

The Principal Consultant for the Anthesis Strategy & Transformation team in Australia is a senior, client-facing role responsible for leading complex sustainability strategy and transformation engagements, developing trusted executive relationships, and supporting the growth of Anthesis' strategic advisory services across Australia and the region. This role focuses on helping organizations navigate change and create long-term business value by integrating sustainability into corporate strategy, business planning, operating models, decision-making and transformation programmes. Based in Australia, the Principal Consultant will lead multidisciplinary teams, shape client engagements from opportunity through delivery, and play a key role in growing Anthesis' Strategy & Transformation practice. Key Responsibilities Client & Project Delivery Lead the design and delivery of complex sustainability strategy and transformation engagements for major corporate, government and private sector clients. Advise executive teams and boards on sustainability-related risks, opportunities and strategic priorities. Develop corporate sustainability strategies, growth strategies, transformation roadmaps, operating models and implementation plans. Facilitate executive workshops, leadership discussions and stakeholder engagement processes to align organisations around strategic priorities. Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget. Provide senior-level oversight, quality assurance and strategic direction across project delivery. Translate sustainability challenges into practical commercial opportunities, business cases and transformation initiatives. Support clients to navigate emerging topics including climate transition planning, nature strategy, circular economy, sustainable supply chains and responsible business governance. Business Development Lead the development of proposals and commercial opportunities across sustainability strategy, transformation and reporting services. Build and strengthen trusted client relationships to identify and convert opportunities across existing and new accounts. Contribute to APAC growth strategy, account development planning and market engagement activities. Develop and refine Anthesis' strategy and transformation propositions, methodologies and tools. Support thought leadership, market insights and content development that enhances Anthesis' profile as a leading sustainability strategy advisor. Act as a senior ambassador for Anthesis across industry networks, conferences and senior stakeholder forums. Collaborate with colleagues across service lines and geographies to bring multidisciplinary solutions to clients. Organizational & Personal Development Manage, coach and mentor consultants, supporting capability development and career progression. Foster a high-performance, collaborative and commercially minded team culture. Contribute to strategic business planning, practice development and innovation initiatives across the STaR team. Support knowledge sharing and capability building across the broader Anthesis business. Actively engage in professional development and contribute to Anthesis Centre of Excellence activities. Help shape the future direction and growth of the APAC Strategy & Transformation practice. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Degree or relevant qualification in business, strategy, sustainability, economics, environmental management, public policy, commerce or a related field. 8+ years of consulting, advisory or industry experience in strategy, sustainability, transformation or related fields. Demonstrated experience leading complex strategy development, transformation or organisational change programmes. Strong understanding of how sustainability, climate, nature and social issues influence corporate strategy, risk, growth and value creation. Experience advising senior executives and facilitating leadership-level decision making. Strong commercial acumen with experience developing proposals, growing client accounts and supporting business development activities. Exceptional communication, facilitation, storytelling and presentation skills. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects. Ability to translate technical sustainability issues into practical business and commercial outcomes.
