Position Summary

PG&E is seeking a Principal Learning Strategist to shape high-impact, enterprise learning strategies that turn business priorities into measurable results. Working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, you will lead complex programs and portfolios from strategy to implementation, align stakeholders, manage risk, and apply performance consulting, data, and industry insights to improve organizational performance. You will bring enterprise perspective, influential leadership, and deep learning expertise to deliver sustainable business value and develop other learning professionals.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the San Ramon Valley Conference Center once a week or 4x per month. On occasion, you may be required to travel to the Oakland Corporate Office or other PG&E offices based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Shape enterprise learning strategy by translating PG&E’s most critical business priorities and performance needs into bold, integrated learning strategies, frameworks, programs, and portfolios.
  • Influence enterprise decisions by advising senior leaders, building alignment across competing priorities, and using performance consulting to address complex business and organizational challenges.
  • Lead with disciplined execution by guiding high-visibility initiatives and portfolios from strategy through implementation, governance, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Mobilize cross-functional teams around a shared direction, integrating best practices in change management, leadership development, learning design, and training deployment to deliver sustainable results.
  • Drive insight, innovation, and accountability by applying data, assessment findings, return-on-investment insights, and external trends to improve outcomes, resolve complex risks, and shape future strategy.
  • Elevate organizational capability by coaching and mentoring learning professionals, strengthening team practices, contributing to department leadership, and representing the function in enterprise forums.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent business experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in learning, project or program management, performance consulting, or training development
  • Experience managing the design and implementation of multiple critical, complex learning solution development projects
  • Experience partnering with senior management and leaders to create learning strategies aligned across delivery partners and the leadership and cultural dimensions of the organization
  • Experience in human performance consulting, instructional design, training delivery, and/or learning assessment strategy and tools

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and proficiency with Oracle P6 or a similar project planning tool
  • Project Management Institute certification, or ability to achieve certification within the prescribed time frame
  • Instructional design experience; Lean Six Sigma training or certification; change leadership experience or certification; and organization development experience
  • Experience leading or managing change initiatives and measuring return on investment
