Principal Manager, Strategy & Policy

  • Full-Time (35hpw) Temporary 12 months commencing November 2026 – with a possibility of extension
  • Salary Range $154,231 - $178,369pa + super + leave loading
  • Newcastle office with hybrid working (2 office days per week)

Subsidence Advisory NSW are currently seeking a Principal Manager, Strategy & Policy to lead the Strategy and Policy team. The role is responsible for delivering a range of strategic, policy, communication and stakeholder engagement services to support the agency’s critical functions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team responsible for supporting the agency across provision of policy and legal advice, strategic projects, stakeholder engagement and support across contentious issues.
  • Providing expert, strategic advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders, including strategic improvements and emerging issues and risks.
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality communication to inform or respond to requests from stakeholders to ensure alignment with policy objectives and legislation.
  • Develop and implement communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for complex, contentious or high-profile initiatives to build stakeholder confidence, manage reputational risk, and support successful delivery of strategic outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must be able to:

  • Apply strong leadership skills to lead and optimise a team responsible for supporting other business units across critical functions of the agency
  • Apply high level oral and written communication skills to prepare and review a range of communication content and strategies
  • Analyse complex information and interpret policies to respond to complex enquiries and provide advice
  • Maintain accurate attention to detail to ensure a high level of requirements and standards are met across communication and advice.

Essential Requirements:

Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in policy or communication.
