Candidates who join KBR's Mission Technology Solutions business before the spin-off will transition to Trinzic when the separation is complete and will not need to reapply for employment.

KBR is looking for an experienced Principal Nuclear Security Engineer to support a major defence nuclear infrastructure programme.

In this senior position, you will provide specialist engineering support for security-related infrastructure and assets operating within a highly regulated environment. You will help develop and maintain the engineering evidence, governance and assurance needed to demonstrate that critical assets continue to meet their required performance throughout the full lifecycle.

Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, projects, contractors and other key stakeholders, you will provide informed technical advice, constructive challenge and assurance. You will also play an important role in strengthening engineering capability through coaching, collaboration and knowledge transfer.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide specialist engineering support and assurance for security-related assets throughout their lifecycle, developing and reviewing engineering justifications, technical evidence and associated processes.

You’ll assess engineering information, provide technical advice and constructive challenge, and support design changes, modifications, inspection, maintenance and testing requirements.

Working collaboratively across engineering, operations, maintenance and project teams, you’ll also support design, commissioning and acceptance activities, undertake technical and peer reviews, identify emerging issues and help strengthen engineering capability through coaching and knowledge transfer

What you’ll bring

You will have:

  • Engineering experience gained within a high-hazard, highly regulated environment.
  • Experience of engineering substantiation or design justification for nuclear structures, systems and components.
  • A strong understanding of security engineering principles and recognised good practice, including the ONR Security Assessment Principles, Technical Assessment Guides or relevant IAEA guidance.
  • A working knowledge of nuclear safety cases and their relationship with security.
  • Experience developing management arrangements, engineering processes or technical procedures.
  • An engineering degree, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience within defence nuclear programmes, security regulation or assessment, or a nuclear design authority environment would be particularly valuable. Chartered Engineer status, progress towards CEng, or Chartered Security Professional status would also be advantageous.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of this position and the environment in which you will be working, you must be able to meet the requirements for Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.

Location

The role is Hybrid where 2-3 days per week will be spent in on the Client site.
