Due to strong business demand, we are seeking a Principal Overhead Wiring (OHW) Engineer for Australia and New Zealand. This strategic technical role serves as the principal technical authority for OHW design across ANZ, providing specialized input, technical assurance, and advisory support, while contributing to capability growth and work winning. The role is ideally based in Sydney and is open to Brisbane or Melbourne for candidates with Sydney Trains experience.
• Serve as a senior technical resource and advisor to multidisciplinary teams across regions.
• Provide specialized technical input to studies and designs within OHW and rail electrification.
• Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables to ensure integrated outcomes.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort for OHW scope.
• Apply expertise across all steps required to complete the OHW discipline component of PS&E packages.
• Perform quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings, and deliverables.
• Prepare technical specification sections aligned to Australian rail standards and client requirements.
• Provide input to engineering budgets and schedules to meet scope, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Undertake design reviews, technical assurance, and governance activities.
• Support major heavy rail, metro, and transit projects across ANZ.
• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships as a subject matter expert.
• Support business development, proposals, and work winning activities.
• Influence OHW strategy, capability, and future growth through technical thought leadership.
• Work alongside leading rail specialists on major infrastructure programs.
• Relevant Engineering degree.
• Extensive experience in overhead wiring design and rail electrification.
• Demonstrated senior technical experience within a consulting environment.
• Strong understanding of Australian rail standards and delivery frameworks.
• Sydney Trains experience (highly preferred).
• Experience delivering projects, mentoring junior engineers, and managing stakeholders.
• Capability to support business development and client engagement.
• CPEng or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
