About Stackpoint

Stackpoint is a venture studio that conceives, funds, and builds B2B agentic AI companies in complex, high-barrier industries like real estate, construction, and lending. Our founders, Adam Pase and Chris Kelly, are proptech pioneers who created over $2B of combined equity value before starting Stackpoint.

We've launched 13 companies in 6 years, raised over $100M, and now launch about four companies a year. 80% of our companies go on to raise from institutional investors, roughly 3x the traditional VC rate. Each company gets a full in-house team (product, design, engineering, marketing, recruiting, and finance) working alongside the founder from day one, plus our capital and a network of design partners, advisors, and investors.

Position Overview

We're hiring a hands-on product designer to lead design for new companies, from the first discovery conversations to a shipped product and brand.

The way design gets done has changed, but the core of great product design hasn't. We want someone who mastered a strong design process before AI tools made it faster: finding the right problem, caring deeply about users, holding a high bar for quality, and knowing when you've learned enough to commit. Our designers now also prototype and build with AI tools, work with engineers who use the same tools, and often own the front end.

You've spent years designing and launching B2B products users love, including meaningful work from before the current AI wave. You're comfortable in complex, data-heavy domains with no established product playbook, and you learn new industries quickly. Joining Stackpoint also means sharing in the equity of the companies we create.

Key Responsibilities

💡First, some context

You'll lead design for one startup at a time, as part of a pod with a Stackpoint product lead and engineering lead. We work side by side with each founder/CEO for about the first 6 months after launch, then shift into a supporting role as they hire their own team and raise their first outside round. Typically you'll work on 1–2 startups per year.

You'll also have dedicated time to improve the studio's own AI operating system, and the tools and playbooks that make our work efficient and repeatable.

Discovery

You'll do this work with your pod's product and engineering leads and the company's founder/CEO:

  • Problem discovery: interview users and design partners to find the problems worth solving, and map the full B2B ecosystem of buyers, operators, and other stakeholders.
  • Solution discovery: put concepts and prototypes in front of users through usability testing, then iterate on what you learn.
  • Get deep into a new industry fast, and know when you have enough signal to commit.

Product & UX Design

  • Set the product design vision and information architecture.
  • Design end-to-end workflows for AI-powered products, including how users review, trust, and correct what agents do.
  • Design for data complexity: records, knowledge bases, permissions, and the schemas behind them.

Prototyping & Building with AI

  • Use AI design and coding tools to go from idea to testable prototype in hours or days.
  • Own the front end end-to-end, and know when a prototype is enough to learn from and when it has to be production quality.
  • Keep the team focused on what it's trying to learn, even when it's easy to keep building.

UI Design & Brand

  • Create each company's initial brand identity, from logo to core visual elements.
  • Build polished interfaces and design systems that engineers and AI tools can build from.
  • Keep the brand consistent across product, website, decks, and social.

Recruiting Support

  • Help each CEO define the profile for their first design hire and take part in the search.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product design experience, with substantial work from before the last 2–3 years. We want to see your craft and process from before AI tools, alongside how you work today.
  • Significant B2B software experience, ideally complex, workflow- or data-heavy products. Experience with AI-powered products is a strong plus.
  • A track record of improving products through direct work with users and showing measurable results.
  • Fluency with current AI design and prototyping tools, and comfort with the technical side of product: data models, APIs, and front-end code.
  • 0–1 experience building new products, at a startup or inside a larger company. Having taken one or two products from zero to product-market fit is a strong plus.
  • Domain experience (real estate, fintech, and so on) is welcome but not required.

Personal Qualities

  • Taste: a high, well-calibrated bar for visual and UX quality.
  • Care for users: you've made someone's working day better and can show how you learned what they needed.
  • Curiosity: you keep trying new tools, side projects, and ideas, both technical and about the industries you design for.
  • Agency: you unblock yourself and move work forward on incomplete information.
  • Team-first: you prepare well for group sessions, help drive meetings, and put the team's results ahead of your own credit.

The design team

You won't be the only designer in the studio. You'll join Rene Chen and Petr Kaplunovich, who each lead design in their own pod. We share work, tools, and practices across companies, and back each other up.

Comp, Benefits, and Location

We offer competitive cash compensation, equity in our portfolio companies, and comprehensive benefits: health, vision, and dental insurance, generous paid time off and sick leave, and a 401(k).

Our team is distributed across the U.S. We work remotely and meet in person about once a quarter. Our priority is finding the best person for the role, wherever they're based in the U.S.
