Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Product Manager to join our world-class product management organization at our global headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
In this high-impact role, you will define and drive the product strategy for PAN-OS software lifecycle management, upgrade automation, and platform reliability across our Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) portfolio, spanning physical appliances, virtual firewalls, and cloud-delivered form factors.
You will shape how enterprise customers deploy, maintain, upgrade, and operate PAN-OS at scale, translating customer needs, platform telemetry, and operational insights into differentiated product capabilities that improve fleet health, reduce maintenance complexity, and strengthen customer confidence.
Working across engineering, product management, customer support, and field organizations, you will influence multi-release investments, establish measurable product outcomes, and advance our broader platformization strategy.
Your Impact
- Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership: Define and drive a multi-year product strategy and roadmap for PAN-OS software lifecycle management, upgrade experiences, and platform reliability, balancing customer requirements, technical feasibility, operational risk, and business priorities.
- Lifecycle Governance & Version Adoption: Establish product direction for software release cadence, upgrade pathways, version adoption, maintenance releases, and End-of-Life (EoL) transitions. Define success metrics that improve software adoption, fleet health, and lifecycle predictability.
- Upgrade Automation & Customer Experience: Partner with PAN-OS engineering, Panorama, and Strata Cloud Manager teams to prioritize capabilities that simplify software upgrades, automate patching, and minimize customer disruption across distributed firewall deployments.
- Platform Reliability & Quality Strategy: Use customer feedback, defect trends, operational telemetry, and field insights to identify systemic reliability challenges and prioritize product investments that reduce customer-found defects, upgrade failures, and operational downtime.
- Operational Intelligence & Self-Service: Define product requirements for proactive diagnostics, fleet visibility, upgrade readiness, and self-service troubleshooting capabilities that improve enterprise operational efficiency and reduce support complexity.
- Cross-Portfolio Product Leadership: Influence technical and product decisions across PAN-OS, physical and virtual firewall platforms, cloud-delivered NGFW, and centralized management solutions to deliver consistent lifecycle experiences.
- Customer & Market Insight: Engage enterprise customers, customer success, technical support, and field engineering to understand operational pain points, validate product opportunities, and translate customer insights into prioritized product requirements.
- Executive Alignment & Product Decisions: Present product strategies, roadmap recommendations, investment tradeoffs, and performance metrics to senior engineering and product leadership. Build alignment across teams with competing priorities and complex technical dependencies.
- Product Outcomes & Continuous Improvement: Establish and monitor KPIs for upgrade adoption, release quality, fleet reliability, operational efficiency, and customer experience. Use data-driven insights to continuously refine product priorities and measure business impact.
