EMPLOYER: PeerIslands US, Inc. JOB TITLE: Principal Software Engineer LOCATION: Southlake, TX (hybrid role, may work from home) DUTIES: Design, develop, and deploy high-performance backend systems, streaming services, and near real-time data processing pipelines; perform high-level and low-level system design covering overall architecture, component interactions, data models, and implementation patterns; architect event-driven microservices, distributed systems, and streaming components to handle high-volume data workloads reliably and efficiently, applying backend design skills including API design, service decomposition, GraphQL, and gRPC; manage and fine-tune NoSQL and relational databases including schema design, index optimization, and cluster sizing, and deploy applications on Kubernetes (AKS) with workload and infrastructure optimization; apply DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline design, containerization, infrastructure as code, automated deployments, and observability across distributed systems; contribute to full stack delivery by working across modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular; act in a Product Owner capacity by gathering and prioritizing business requirements, defining user stories, managing backlogs, and aligning technical delivery with business goals and stakeholder expectations; lead end-toend delivery of enterprise applications, adopt new technologies through prototyping and POCs, and collaborate with onshore and offshore teams on RFP preparation, estimation, and client-facing presentations. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, and 6 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a software engineer, application developer, or in a related/similar position. Experience therein to include 6 years in enterprise software programming using C# and Java; 5 years in Cloud architecture using Azure or AWS services, SQL and NoSQL database design; 4 year with distributed systems architecture, CI/CD automation, Kubernetes (AKS), Spring Boot, and high performance API design with Rest, GraphQL or gRPC, design patterns, and technical architecture design; 3 years with real time data processing with Kafka or Flink; and 2 years with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
