The Siteimprove Search Insights team builds the tools our customers use to understand and improve how their content performs in search, both in classic search engines and in the AI assistants that increasingly answer questions on their behalf. We work at enterprise scale, with large volumes of crawled and third party search data, visibility and ranking analysis, and features that turn that data into recommendations marketers can act on.

We are also changing how we build. AI is part of every step, from requirements, to breaking work down, to implementing and reviewing it with coding agents. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who wants to build this way, and who helps us define the standard while we do it.

Tech stack you will be working with

  • C# and .NET, TypeScript, React
  • AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Event driven services and large scale data pipelines
  • GitHub Actions for CI and CD
  • Claude Code and other coding agents, MCP servers, Jira and Confluence as the working surface for the AI PDLC

What we will be doing

  • Contribute to the technical direction of the team. Write the system designs for the work you own, take part in design reviews, and argue for the option you believe is right.
  • Design and build systems yourself: services, APIs and data pipelines that stay stable, fast and affordable as data volumes grow.
  • Lead our use of AI across the product development lifecycle. Take a product requirements document to a technical vision and system designs, break it into epics and user stories that an agent can act on, and set the standard at each step.
  • Improve the scaffolding that makes agent driven delivery work: context and instruction files, prompts and skills, and the review and testing practice that keeps quality high when code arrives faster than before.
  • Keep search data trustworthy, with tests, monitoring and errors a colleague can understand.
  • Define how we measure quality, detect drift, and explain results to customers who make decisions based on them.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels through design reviews, pairing and written technical proposals, including how to work well with agents.
  • Treat cost, performance and operability as design inputs from the start.
  • Take part in the daily work of the team: refinement, estimation, prototyping, debugging and production support.
  • Travel may be required; a valid passport is required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • What we will require of you

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science.
  • 10 or more years of professional software development experience.
  • 5 or more years building and running services and APIs on a public cloud, preferably AWS.
  • A track record of architecture decisions that span several teams, including the trade offs you rejected and why.
  • You have owned features or services end to end, including what happened after they were released.
  • Hands on experience using coding agents in real production work, with a clear view of where they help and where they do not.
  • Deep understanding of software design principles, algorithms and data structures, and a commitment to technical excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal English. You write proposals and designs that other people, and agents, can act on without a meeting.
  • Willingness to work across the stack when the problem calls for it.
  • What we will love about you

  • Experience turning product requirements into technical designs and a delivery plan that a team can execute.
  • Experience with search, SEO, crawling, indexing, ranking or web scale data.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working in a team distributed across Europe and North America.
  • You take pride in the work of the team and lead by example.
  • You are comfortable replacing what you built yesterday with something better today.
  • What you'll love about us

We’re building the next generation of AI-powered content intelligence, helping organizations unify accessibility, SEO/AEO, analytics, and content performance into one platform. If you’re energized by solving complex problems, working cross-functionally, and contributing to a product with real-world impact, we’d love to connect.

In addition, we hope you will appreciate:
