About us
As Switzerland’s leading digital hub, we provide our media and platforms with ideal framework conditions, support them through investments in technology, and create space for them to develop individually. We stand for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and dynamic development.
We are on the move – and want to keep moving. We are farsighted. We are proactive. We are courageous. We are TX. TX Services is a part of TX Group.
About the job
Tamedia is a major Swiss private media company and part of the TX Group. We’re building a new Product Studio: a small, cross-functional team that explores, validates and ships new digital products for our media brands and audiences. The Studio works in an AI-native way from the start, and it will rely on agentic workflows across the entire product development lifecycle (PDLC), from discovery through to production.
As our Principal Software Engineer, you’ll be the studio’s first engineer, reporting to the Head of Product Studio. This is a rare chance to shape both what we build and how we build it. You’ll set the technical foundation, define the engineering culture and help grow the team around you. We’re looking for someone who thinks in systems, leads through craft rather than title, and is happiest when they’re both designing the architecture and writing the code.
What would you do?
Participate in creating the Studio’s agentic PDLC from the ground up, designing how humans and AI agents work together across discovery, design, development, testing, deployment and operations.
Build, maintain and scale that PDLC so it holds up beyond the prototype stage: reliable, observable, secure and usable by a growing team.
Design and build the Studio’s first suite of products hands-on, from early prototypes to production-ready systems.
Steer the architecture of the Studio’s products together with the team. Provide direction, context and guardrails so engineers can confidently make and own their technical decisions
Establish developer tooling and work processes, and keep the Studio’s approach current as the field evolves
Help hire and scale the Studio: run technical interviews and onboard new team members.
Foster a transparent, collaborative culture where every team member is trusted to make and own decisions.
Champion knowledge sharing through documentation, demos and open discussion, both within the Studio and across Tamedia’s wider tech organisation.
What should you bring?
7–10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of designing and shipping production systems.
Hands-on experience building and working with agentic development workflows, ideally ones you have taken into production.
Strong systems thinking and an architectural mindset. You can see how the pieces fit together and design for scale, resilience and change.
A hands-on approach. You still enjoy writing code every day and lead by example.
Solid experience with modern cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and engineering best practices.
A no-ego, collaborative attitude. You value the best idea over your own idea, and you make others around you better.
Experience hiring, mentoring or growing engineering teams, ideally in an early-stage or zero-to-one environment.
Comfort with ambiguity and an appetite for building things from scratch.
Excellent communication skills in English.
