We are recruiting an experienced Biomarker Lead Statistician for a rare specialist opportunity supporting the clinical development portfolio of a leading global pharmaceutical organisation.
This position sits at the intersection of biostatistics, biomarkers and clinical development. You will provide statistical leadership for biomarker strategy and exploratory analyses, helping clinical teams better understand treatment response, disease biology and patient populations.
The role would suit an experienced statistician who wants to remain technically hands-on while taking ownership of biomarker deliverables and working closely with multidisciplinary scientific teams.
The Role
As Biomarker Lead Statistician, you will act as the statistical lead across clinical studies of varying complexity, with particular responsibility for biomarker analysis and reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the statistical delivery of biomarker activities across clinical studies.
- Develop biomarker statistical analysis plans and reporting specifications.
- Lead biomarker outputs for clinical study reports and other key deliverables.
- Plan and conduct exploratory biomarker analyses, supporting the interpretation of complex clinical and biological data.
- Provide statistical input into study design, protocols, CRFs and edit specifications.
- Perform statistical analyses and communicate results clearly to scientific and clinical stakeholders.
- Work closely with clinicians, biomarker scientists, programmers and other cross-functional partners.
- Ensure statistical deliverables are accurate, consistent and completed to a high standard.
- Apply appropriate statistical methodologies across a range of therapeutic areas and study designs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in biomarker analysis, reporting and statistical processes.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support wider client discussions when required.
Your Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- An MSc or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics or a related discipline.
- At least six years of professional biostatistics experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology or clinical research.
- Hands-on experience supporting biomarker analyses within clinical development.
- Experience developing biomarker SAPs and delivering biomarker outputs for clinical study reports.
- A strong understanding of clinical trials and the drug development process.
- Experience leading statistical activities across studies of varying complexity.
- Proficiency in SAS, R or Python.
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, reporting and programming practices.
- The ability to work independently and provide statistical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality statistical delivery.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- A genuinely specialist role where biomarker expertise will be highly valued.
- Direct involvement in exploratory science and evidence generation.
- The opportunity to influence biomarker strategy across clinical development programmes.
- Close collaboration with clinical, scientific and technical experts.
- A client-dedicated model offering long-term involvement with one leading pharmaceutical organisation.
- The backing, development opportunities and stability of a large global clinical research organisation.
