Principal TPM - GSO Studio Enablement

United States, Remote

Role Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of GSO and Studio Enablement, the Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) will serve as a key driver of strategy, execution, and organizational alignment across one of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s most critical technology domains. This role is an individual contributor with significant influence, operating at the intersection of engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

The Principal TPM will shape and advance initiatives across Global Service Operations and Studio IT, ensuring both organizations’ missions. The role requires not only deep technical program management expertise but also organizational design insight, executive-level communication, and the ability to foster alignment across leadership teams, operating companies, and external partners.

This is a high-impact role for a seasoned technical program leader who thrives in complexity, navigates ambiguity, and builds trust at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Translate GSO and Studio Enablement’s long-term strategy into clear execution roadmaps, working across engineering, product, and operations teams to drive delivery of mission-critical initiatives.
  • Anticipate and surface cross-organizational dependencies, risks, and trade-offs, guiding leadership decision-making with data, insight, and scenario planning.

Cross-Organizational Influence & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with leaders across SIE engineering, product management, design, and operations to align priorities and unlock execution velocity.
  • Represent GSO and Studio Enablement in enterprise forums, ensuring that operations and studio IT capabilities are positioned effectively across Sony’s ecosystem.
  • Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders (partners, vendors, strategic alliances) to accelerate adoption of Studio IT capabilities and extend GSO value.

Execution Excellence & Governance

  • Drive program governance for our highest-priority initiatives, ensuring effective rhythm-of-business, transparent reporting, and predictable execution.
  • Define success metrics and KPIs for our programs, producing data-driven insights that inform leadership decisions and drive accountability.
  • Establish operating frameworks that simplify decision-making and improve organizational agility across multiple stakeholders.

Organizational Design & Enablement

  • Serve as a thought partner to team leadership, helping design and refine organizational structures, roles, and processes that enable sustainable growth.
  • Curate leadership offsites, reviews, and cross-functional planning forums that sharpen objectives and unify execution.
  • Champion modern engineering and program management practices (Agile, SAFe, Lean Portfolio Management) that enhance collaboration, delivery predictability, and organizational health.

Executive Communication & Storytelling

  • Craft clear, compelling communications (strategy narratives, board/executive briefings, external partner messaging) that connect our technical vision to business outcomes.
  • Elevate GSO and Studio Enablement’s voice across Sony and the industry by supporting leadership with thought leadership, positioning, and strategic storytelling.
  • Ensure visibility and alignment by producing high-quality reports, presentations, and narratives for executives across Sony’s operating companies.

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management, portfolio management, or related roles in large-scale software environments.
  • Proven track record of leading high-impact programs across global, matrixed organizations and aligning technical execution to business strategy.
  • Experience working with shared IT platforms and services across larger organizations, including modernization and standardization efforts.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, networking, distributed systems, and infrastructure operations.
  • Experience using automation, telemetry, and emerging AI capabilities to reduce manual work and improve support outcomes.
  • Experience with CI/CD, engineering tooling, platform services, and improving developer workflows.
  • Experience helping teams move from reactive support toward more proactive, repeatable, and automated operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, with a history of driving alignment across senior executives and distributed teams.

Leadership & Communication

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills; adept at tailoring messages for executive and technical audiences alike.
  • Experience guiding executive stakeholders through organizational change, re-org planning, and enterprise-scale transformation.
  • Ability to act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, balancing strategic insight with operational rigor.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting production systems, incident response, reliability, monitoring, and operational improvement.
  • Experience supporting studio technology, developer environments, build workflows, source control, and day-to-day production needs.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred, but not required.
  • Certifications in Agile, SAFe, or PMP are a plus.

Success Profile

The ideal candidate will:

  • Operate as a strategic integrator—connecting vision to execution across multiple organizations.
  • Be a catalyst for alignment—building clarity and trust across executive teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrate chief-of-staff-like influence—shaping organizational design, communication, and leadership effectiveness while remaining grounded in technical program management excellence.
