Location: London (Hybrid working – min 2–3 days in office/week)
Level: Principal/Associate/Associate Director/Director
Background: Chartered Civil or Structural Engineers with Management/Technical Consulting Experience
Package: Competitive salary (DOE) + B Corp + Employee Benefit Trust, private healthcare and much more.
Ready to shape the future of major infrastructure? Bring your engineering expertise to client advisory – we’re always on the lookout for talented people.
Infrastructure Performance Consultants (Principal, Associate & Associate Director)
At Expedition Engineering (part of the Useful Simple Trust), our engineering-led strategic advisory team transforms how major capital programmes operate. We help them improve efficiency, boost productivity, adopt industrialised construction, and cut carbon, waste, and error at scale. We are always on the look-out to hire talented people – across a range of engineering backgrounds, including civil, structural, manufacturing, mechanical...wherever in the value chain you come from.
What You Will Bring
We are seeking individuals who combine deep engineering credibility with a consulting mindset. You are likely a Chartered Engineer who has moved beyond standard design delivery to advise clients, solve systemic delivery challenges, and lead advisory commissions. A background in major civils delivery or manufacturing/process engineering would be viewed positively (although is not essential if there is something else that you offer).

Core Background & Capabilities
- Technical & Professional Grounding: Chartered membership with IStructE, ICE, or an equivalent professional body, built on a strong engineering foundation.
- Consulting & Advisory Experience: An interest in, or at director level, proven experience operating in a consultancy or advisory environment—beyond traditional design office delivery. You understand client dynamics, commercial management, and how to navigate complex project environments.
- Communication: An ability to communicate with clarity, with a track record of authoring clear, concise technical reports, client briefs, or strategy documents. You are equally confident presenting to your seniors in a formal setting as you are leading collaborative client workshops or technical calls.
- Industry Frameworks: Familiarity with modern delivery frameworks such as the Construction Playbook, Project 13, NIC guidance, or Lean process improvements.
- Digital Capabilities (Nice to Have): While core civil/structural and consulting capabilities are essential, an interest or skill in digital tools, Python/Excel scripting, data visualization, or production system modelling is a fantastic multiplier.
