Could you show a budget owner, in five minutes, why one print quote beats the other two?
On a typical day you might line up three quotes for a booklet run in the morning, confirm a delivery date with Production's Design and Quality team after lunch, and send a budget owner your recommendation before end of day.
About Contour
We operate across three brands. The India team, which falls under the Global Enablement and Support pillar, is the global capability centre (GCC) Contour is building: it runs delivery, automation, people, and operations for the whole organisation.
The Kind of People Who Thrive Here
Contour started in 2020 as one classroom in a university library. In 2022 three full-time team members ran the business on Monday.com. Today we are about 500 people across Australia and India, and much of what we run was built by someone who noticed it was missing.
The work matters. More than 10,000 students rely on what we build, from the booklets they study from to the systems their families pay through. The people who do well here care about that and want to know their work made a difference to those students.
They own their work end to end, start things without being asked, and finish what they commit to. They tell the truth early, including when something is off and what they have already tried, and write decisions down so the next person can pick them up. They give direct feedback and ask for it back.
The pace is fast. Small problems are fixed the same week, bigger ones within the six-week cycle, and whoever spots the problem usually gets to lead the fix. We keep refining how we work, and you are expected to improve the processes you own.
We hire on what you have built and run yourself, and growth works the same way. Time with us counts, but scope, title and pay move with what you deliver and how much you raise the bar on what you own.
The GCC is being built now, seat by seat. This one decides how Contour buys what students study from.
About This Role
You are Contour's print operations and procurement analyst, in Operations and Business Services: the person who sources suppliers, prepares and places purchases, and analyses what Contour spends on the booklets and study materials students use across our three brands.
Two lines are drawn clearly. Budget owners approve every purchase: you build the case, place the order once they sign off, and track it. Production's Design and Quality team owns print quality and delivery standards: you coordinate with them, and you never hold or release work on quality grounds. Your reporting line is being confirmed. Everything else is yours.
Two things separate a strong hire from an average one here. First, your working is always visible. A recommendation shows unit cost, total cost, lead time and every assumption, laid out so the person approving it can check it quickly and decide. Second, you plan from the date students need the materials, not from the date a quote arrives. Print runs follow the teaching calendar, so a late order means a student waiting for a booklet, and the strong analyst raises a risk while there is still time to change course.
This is an individual contributor seat. Contour is scaling and hires for the long term: the scope of this seat grows with the platform, and what you deliver decides how fast.
With quality held by Production, this seat makes sure every run is bought well, on time and on the record. The supplier records and cost models you set up are what each later buying decision will start from.
What You Will Do
- Plan each run back from the teaching calendar: Agree quantities and order dates with Production, so every run reaches students before it is needed.
- Source and compare suppliers: Request quotes, compare them on unit cost, lead time and terms, and recommend one with the working attached.
- Prepare purchases for approval: Put each purchase to its budget owner with the options and your recommendation, then place the order once it is approved.
- Follow orders through to the invoice: Track each order from confirmation to delivery, match the invoice to what was approved, and chase any gap until it closes.
- Keep supplier records current: Hold each supplier's prices, lead times, terms and delivery history in one place, so a new comparison starts from evidence.
- Analyse spend: Report spend on print and other purchases by brand and by run, and show where a cost can come down.
- Work with Design and Quality: Pass their specifications to suppliers, and bring every supplier issue back to them for the call.
If a better tool exists for something we are doing manually, make the case and we will back it.
Requirements
What You Need
We weigh what you have built and run more than the years on your CV. You should be able to point to:
- Purchasing you handled yourself: quotes gathered, suppliers compared and orders placed, with the records to show for it.
- A cost comparison you built that changed what someone decided to buy, and what it saved or prevented.
- An order you followed from purchase order to delivery and invoice that went wrong, and how you put it right.
- A supplier tracker, price list or spend report you set up that other people relied on.
- A print run, production batch or delivery schedule you planned to a fixed date.
- Recommendations written for whoever held the budget, clear enough that they decided from your page.
- Spreadsheet work you can explain line by line: formulas, lookups and a model someone else could check.
If you have delivered these, or can show us how you would here, apply. If you enjoy doing the work yourself, this seat will suit you; if your recent years have mostly been signing off other people's work, it may feel small.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of print: paper stocks, binding, print methods and what drives their price.
- An education or educational publishing background.
What Good Looks Like
- A trail anyone can follow: any purchase can be traced from quote to approval to invoice without asking you.
- Spend nobody has to guess: budget owners know what each run costs, by brand, before they ask.
Benefits
Fully remote, anywhere in India, and comfortable working across the India and Australia time difference. Compensation is competitive and benchmarked to the role and your experience; we discuss it openly early in the process.
