Show job description

Khonology is a digital services company focused on software development, application support, data analytics, and engineering.

We are looking to onboard 10 (ten) highly experienced Process Engineers on a 6-month contract who understand both the technical and business language and can write process specs that builders can build from directly, clear inputs and outputs, decision rules, data flows and exception paths with over 10 years of experience in process engineering and Analysis, business transformation, and continuous improvement within Banking and with an understanding of South African payments and bank accounting. The role demands advanced process modelling (Technical and Business) expertise, together with proven experience in facilitating cross-functional collaboration, implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and delivering measurable improvements in operational efficiency, client experience, and service performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documenting all existing and new processes(Technical and Business), ensuring transparency, consistency, and traceability across the technology stack.

  • Identify and analyse process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, redundancies, and non-value-adding activities, and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and enhance the overall client experience.

  • Process models: End-to-end processes, today and target, in BPMN 2.0, at the level a business owner can sign. One diagram per process, not one per rule.

  • Rule and decision catalogue: Every business rule and decision in a catalogue, with an ID, its status, its owner and the source it came from. Decisions written as DMN decision tables.

  • Accounting flows: Every posting as debit, credit, amount and trigger, with the suspense and control accounts, GL mapping and reconciliation points.

  • Data mappings: For payments, the mapping of each field to ISO 20022 messages, with any field that would be cut short or lost flagged. For accounts, the mapping to the target data model.

  • Acceptance tests: Each rule written as a test with inputs and the expected result, so the new system can be compared with the old.

  • Simplification log: Behaviour the business wants to drop or change, marked so it is not rebuilt by accident.

  • Open questions: Everything the sources cannot answer, as a question for a named owner. Never a plausible guess.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, IT, Industrial Engineering or a related field.

  • Business Analysis or Process Management certification, would be advantageous.

  • Training or certification in ISO 20022, DMN or financial services would be beneficial.

  • 7+ years’ experience in Business Analysis, Process Analysis or Business Process Management, preferably within banking, payments or financial services.

  • Proven experience in BPMN 2.0 process modelling, requirements gathering, business rules and decision modelling.

  • Experience with data mapping, system transformation/migration and acceptance testing.

  • Good understanding of accounting flows, GL mappings, reconciliation and payment processing.

  • Exposure to ISO 20022 and DMN decision tables is highly advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent process mapping, documentation and requirements analysis capability.

  • Strong understanding of BPMN 2.0, business rules, data mapping and process improvement.

  • Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into clear, practical documentation.

  • Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on traceability, accuracy and quality.
