Reporting to the Process and Asset Safety Technical Manager the successful candidate will assist and support in developing the capability and effectiveness of Process and Asset Safety systems, procedures, policies as well as ownership of process and asset safety performance KPIs, metrics, and reporting.
This is a hybrid working role, our client has offices based nationwide so the opportunity to work from the office closest to you is available.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Process and Asset Safety Technical Manager in the following key areas or as may be required from time to time:
- Attending the Process Safety Implementation working group, which has a remit to oversee the delivery of the process safety strategy. Assisting the Process Safety and Technical Manager in the chairing duties preparation, administration and action follow up for this working group.
- Deputise for the Process Safety and Technical Manager at Asset or Process Safety related meetings.
- Working with the Process Safety and Technical Manager on the ongoing development and of the National Process safety framework and associated Strategic Plan, and stakeholders to deliver, operationalise and implement the plan.
- Support the Process Safety and Technical Manager on preparing reports for the governance of the Process Safety Framework, including the provision of reports on progress and risk.
- Manage and/or perform technical assurance audits, reviews, and performance monitoring of process safety across business areas within remit
- Assisting the Process Safety and Technical Manager in Developing, applying, and maintaining systems to prevent process and asset safety incidents.
- Providing technical direction to management on asset safety in line with legal compliance and best practice.
- Manage and oversee the outputs of external consultants, experts and inspection personnel as required and assisting in the organisation and procurement of large scale inspection programmes for Process Safety.
- Assist the Process Safety and Technical Manager in specialist investigation of all process safety incidents and HIPOs, communicating technical findings to senior stakeholders, recommending preventative actions to the business and ensuring process for tracking items to closure.
- Work with the Process Safety and Technical Manager on the development of effective performance monitoring of process and asset safety compliance across the business areas within remit.
- Oversight, integrity and delivery of process and asset safety performance metrics, KPIs, reports and updates for the Leadership and Management teams.
- Assist the Process Safety and Technical Manager in setting national process safety direction working closely with Business stakeholders to ensure the implementation of our WorkSafe HomeSafe Framework with responsibility for safe assets and workplaces.
- Provision of technical and solution focused expertise to Business stakeholders to help evaluate key processes and asset safety risks including asset safety programmes.
- Provide oversight for the process safety evaluation of proposed innovation projects, giving technical process safety requirements ensuring that any potential health and safety impacts on existing asset and processes are identified and addressed, attending design workshops and studies on behalf of the Process Safety and Technical Manager.
- Review international asset and process safety best practice and apply where appropriate.
- Other duties as required.

- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across the business and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- An engineering degree(preferably Chemical, Process or Biochemical).
- Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience, water, utilities or similar industries would be advantageous as would an additional qualification process safety or occupational health and safety.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
- Ability to problem solve and project manage.
- Ability to set requirements, impart advice and direction under pressure – in the event of a process safety incident/ event.
- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
