The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes – Sizewell C – a once-in-a-generation clean energy project that will help power over 6 million homes for decades to come.

Working within the Civil Works Alliance (a partnership between Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke), you'll play a key leadership role in developing and delivering procurement strategies across one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects.

As a Procurement Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering effective procurement solutions across the project, ensuring value is maximised, supply chain risks are managed and procurement objectives are achieved. You'll work closely with the wider procurement, estimating, commercial and project delivery teams, while managing and developing procurement professionals to deliver a best-in-class procurement service.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Implementing procurement strategies in line with project objectives, policies and governance requirements
  • Taking ownership of procurement activities for subcontractors, materials, plant and services across allocated work packages
  • Supporting procurement and estimating teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection and risk and opportunity assessments
  • Leading supplier engagement, negotiations and procurement activities to secure best value for the project
  • Providing market intelligence, cost advice and supply chain performance insights to support commercial decision-making
  • Managing and developing a team of procurement professionals, including training, performance management and career development
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and service providers
  • Monitoring supply chain performance throughout the project lifecycle, identifying opportunities for improvement and managing potential risks
  • Developing supplier engagement strategies, including supporting local businesses, SMEs and diverse supply chain partners
  • Leading the development of the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan, working collaboratively with parent company specialists
  • Ensuring all procurement activities comply with project governance, legislation, nuclear regulations and ethical procurement standards
  • Producing management information and procurement reports to support project performance and decision-making

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or similar procurement leadership role within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategies, tendering processes and supply chain management
  • Experience managing and developing procurement teams with varying levels of experience
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships
  • Knowledge of contract law, commercial principles and procurement governance
  • Experience in risk and opportunity management, supply chain planning and logistics
  • Demonstrable experience delivering value through effective procurement strategies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work to tight deadlines and make informed commercial decisions
  • MCIPS qualification or membership of a relevant professional body (CIOB, RICS) would be advantageous
  • Experience within nuclear, energy or other highly regulated environments would be beneficial but is not essential

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects
  • Lead procurement activities across a nationally significant programme of works
  • Work within a collaborative alliance environment alongside industry-leading organisations
  • Manage and develop procurement teams while influencing major supply chain strategies
  • Play a key role in supporting local communities and sustainable procurement initiatives
  • Long-term career opportunities within a major programme of works
  • Competitive salary, benefits and hybrid working arrangements
