Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) media organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., with editorial and operational bureaus in Taipei, Bangkok, and Seoul. A congressionally funded grantee of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), RFA operates with full editorial independence.

Our mission is to provide accurate, uncensored news and information to people living in countries where a free press does not exist. We broadcast in nine languages and dialects — Mandarin, Cantonese, Tibetan, Uyghur, Burmese, Vietnamese, Lao, Khmer, and Korean — reaching audiences across China, North Korea, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and beyond via shortwave, satellite, and the internet. Our journalists work in some of the world’s most difficult media environments, often at considerable personal risk, filling a critical gap in access to truthful, timely news for millions of people who would otherwise have very little of it. That reality shapes everything about how we work and who we hire to lead this organization.

Job Summary

Producer is a professional responsible for independently determining the creative approach for the assigned multimedia projects, from video editing of daily news productions through publication, and capable of conceptualizing and planning feature audio-visual news stories as set within the Editorial and News Guidelines. The core work of this position is to conceive, develop, and produce audio-visual news stories, determining how each is told visually and orally, working from journalists’ reporting and from original research.

This position combines news judgment with practical technical skills, encompassing camera operation, still photography, video editing, image processing, and broadcast audio production. Producer creates content exercising judgement within RFA’s editorial and brand standards.

Multiplatform Content Production

• Receive news materials from journalists -- including raw footage, audio recordings, scripts, and photos -- and select the story narrative structure, visual or audi treatments, based on platform strategy for each story.
• Produce digital news packages: edit video, write or adapt captions and scripts, select and process still images, and design and build complete digital news items for website.
• Produce social media content from news materials: create short-form videos, Reels, and multimedia posts for various platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, etc.), adapting format, aspect ratio, length, and tone for each platform audience.
• Package broadcast audio and audio-visual podcast content: edit and master audio for shortwave and digital broadcast; produce audio-visual podcast episodes including clean audio, title cards, and formatted intros/outros.

Video Production and Camera Operation

• Operate DSLR cameras and professional video cameras to independently shoot audio-visual materials for digital publication, social media, and archival use, selecting appropriate formats for different platforms and distribution requirements.
• Plan and execute studio and on-location lighting setups, ensuring quality standards are met.

Editing and Post-Production

• Record broadcast audio using field recorders and microphones, and perform post-production to develop the sound and look of each piece. Create motion graphics, title cards, and basic animations.

Editorial and Research

• Independently execute the complete production workflow for assigned video stories -- including topic research, scripting, shooting, and editing -- making autonomous decisions on format, platform treatment, and presentation without daily supervision.
• Conduct background research via online sources, image archives, public records, and government data to enrich story depth.
• Adapt scripts and content across languages as required by assigned language desk needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Film/Video Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional digital video production experience,preferrably in a newsroom, with the ability to demonstrate original storytelling.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, handling full workflow from rough cut to final deliverables.
• Demonstrated experience producing content for multiple platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X
• Ability to adapt format, tone, length, and aspect ratio for different platform audiences
• Familiar with camera equipment specifications including resolution, sensor format, recording format, and frame rate; lighting fixtures and specifications, audio equipment, and production switchers, and able to make recommendations.
• Experience creating short-form videos, Reels, and multimedia posts
• Able to demonstrate strong news judgment with proven commitment to accurate, objective reporting.
• Excellent language proficiency in Mandarin.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with broadcast control room operations, including familiarity with production consoles, video switchers, signal routing systems, and broadcast monitoring equipment.
• Experience editing and mastering audio for shortwave, digital broadcast, or podcast formats
• Experience writing or adapting captions, scripts, and news items for digital publication
• Familiarity with lighting fixtures, audio equipment, and production switchers
• Experience in live studio production or multi-camera switching.
• Basic programming or CMS skills for digital publication.

• Professional working proficiency in English, especially for communicating with the U.S.-based team

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

This position is hybrid, with three days in-office and two days telework weekly. Some flexibility in work hours required to accommodate international time zones.

職務摘要

製作人負責所分配之多媒體新聞與專案的創意呈現方式，工作範圍涵蓋每日新聞影片的剪輯至發布，並須能依據《編採與新聞準則》，構思及規劃專題影音新聞報導。本職位的核心工作是以記者的採訪報導及原創調查為基礎，構思、發展並製作影音新聞，決定每則報導如何透過影像及口語敘事呈現。

本職位結合新聞判斷力與實務技術能力，所需技能涵蓋攝影機操作、平面攝影、影片剪輯、影像處理及廣播音訊製作。製作人須依循自由亞洲電台（RFA）的編採與品質標準，運用專業判斷製作內容。

主要職責

多平台內容製作

• 接收記者提供的新聞素材，包括原始影片、錄音、文稿及照片，並依據各則報導的平台策略，決定敘事架構及影音呈現方式。

• 製作數位新聞內容：剪輯影片、撰寫或改編字幕與文稿、挑選及處理照片，並為網站設計及製作完整的數位新聞報導。

• 運用新聞素材製作社群媒體內容，包括適用於 Facebook、YouTube、Instagram、X 等平台的短影音、Reels 及多媒體貼文，並依各平台閱聽眾的需求調整內容形式、畫面比例、長度及語調。

• 製作廣播音訊及影音 Podcast 內容：為短波與數位廣播進行音訊剪輯及母帶後製；製作影音 Podcast 節目，包括清晰的音訊、標題畫面，以及符合格式要求的片頭與片尾。

影片製作與攝影機操作

• 操作數位單眼相機及專業攝影機，獨立拍攝供數位發布、社群媒體及存檔使用的影音素材，並依不同平台及傳播需求選擇適當格式。

• 規劃並執行攝影棚及外景燈光配置，確保符合品質標準。

剪輯與後期製作

• 使用外景錄音設備及麥克風錄製廣播音訊，並透過後期製作塑造各項作品的聲音與視覺風格。製作動態圖像、標題畫面及基礎動畫。

編採與研究

• 獨立完成所分配之影音新聞的完整製作流程，包括主題研究、文稿撰寫、拍攝及剪輯，並能在無須日常督導的情況下，自主決定內容形式、各平台的呈現方式及表現手法。

• 運用網路資料、影像資料庫、公開紀錄及政府數據進行背景研究，深化報導內容。

• 依所屬語言組的工作需求，進行文稿及內容的跨語言改編。

• 執行主管交辦的其他工作。

必要資格

• 具廣播新聞、電影／影片製作、傳播或相關領域學士學位，或具同等實務經驗。

• 至少三年專業數位影片製作經驗，並能展現原創敘事能力。應徵時請一併提交已公開發表的作品集。

• 熟練使用 Adobe Creative Suite，尤其是 Adobe Premiere Pro 及 After Effects，能獨立完成從初剪至最終成品交付的完整製作流程。

• 具備為 Facebook、YouTube、Instagram 及 X 等多個平台製作內容的實務經驗。

• 能依不同平台的閱聽眾需求，調整內容形式、語調、長度及畫面比例。

• 熟悉攝影設備規格，包括解析度、感光元件規格、錄影格式及影格率，以及燈具及其規格、音訊設備與影像切換器，並能提出設備選用建議。

• 具備製作短影音、Reels 及多媒體貼文的經驗。

• 具備良好的新聞判斷力，並能以實際工作表現展現對準確、客觀報導的堅持。

• 必須精通所屬普通話組的工作語言。

加分條件

• 具備廣播電視副控室操作經驗，熟悉製播控制台、影像切換器、訊號路由系統及播出監看設備。

• 具備短波廣播、數位廣播或 Podcast 音訊剪輯及母帶後製經驗。

• 具備為數位發布撰寫或改編字幕、文稿及新聞報導的經驗。

• 熟悉燈具、音訊設備及影像切換器。

• 具備攝影棚現場製作或多機攝影切換經驗。

• 具備數位發布所需的基礎程式設計或內容管理系統（CMS）操作能力。

• 具備動態圖像製作及基礎動畫技能。

• 具備基本英文溝通能力。

工作條件

本職位採混合辦公模式，每週三天於辦公室工作、兩天遠距工作。須能彈性調整工作時間，以配合跨國時區的工作需求。
