Job Description

This is a remote position.

Role overview

Our client is an Australian technology company whose AI voice agent platform answers and handles phone calls for businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

As a Product Analyst, your responsibility is to research the AI voice agent market and turn it into clear, build-ready feature documents for our client's development team. This role is the bridge between the market and the product. You will study what competitors offer, analyse what the platform should build next, and write specifications the CTO can act on. The Founder & CEO makes final decisions on what gets built.

Business owners create their own AI agents that can answer questions, book appointments, collect caller details, send SMS messages and transfer calls to staff. The platform is fully self-serve: customers set up and manage their agents, and handle any escalated calls themselves. The platform is built on its own technology stack using leading speech and language AI models, and is designed to work across industries.

Key Responsibilities

Market and competitor research
  • Identify and track AI voice agent and call-handling platforms, globally and in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Sign up for competitor free trials, build test agents and call demo numbers to experience their products first-hand.
  • Monitor competitor feature releases, pricing changes, integrations and new market entrants.
Feature analysis
  • Break down how competitors design and deliver specific features, including user flows, settings and limitations.
  • Assess which features are standard expectations and which could set the platform apart.
  • Research third-party integrations (CRMs, calendars, booking systems, helpdesks) and how they connect to voice agent platforms.
Feature documentation
  • Write clear, structured feature specification documents using the client's standard format.
  • Present feature documents to the Founder & CEO for review and approval.
  • Hand approved specifications to the CTO and answer the development team's questions about them.
  • Keep a prioritised feature backlog up to date.
Platform insight
  • Review anonymised call transcripts and recordings to spot where agents struggle or callers get confused.
  • Analyse platform usage data, such as feature adoption and drop-off during agent setup.
  • Review support tickets and cancellation feedback for recurring issues and feature requests.
Product quality
  • Test new features once built against the approved specification and report gaps.
  • Help maintain product documentation and help-centre content for new features.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

Essential
  • 1–3 years in a product analyst, business analyst, QA or similar role at a software or SaaS company.
  • Excellent written English, with the ability to write clear, structured documents for both business and technical readers.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a habit of testing products hands-on rather than relying on marketing pages.
  • Ability to understand software features and user flows, and explain them simply.
  • Confident using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for research, analysis and drafting.
  • Organised and self-directed, able to manage several research topics at once and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Reliable home internet and a quiet workspace suitable for remote work.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with AI voice agents, chatbots or conversational AI products.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and how software integrations work.
