Part-Time Product and AI Intern — Youth Sports Platform
About the opportunity
We are building a youth sports platform through acquisitions. The search is led by an exited, self-funded searcher with experience in private equity, software, and company operations.
We are looking for a product-minded student to improve the AI tools and workflows used in a live acquisition search. You will see how companies are sourced, evaluated, and acquired. Your main focus will be building and improving tools, learning the deal process as you work alongside the deal team.
The search already uses AI-enabled workflows for tasks such as processing NDAs, reviewing data rooms, and analyzing financial information. Two developers who have worked with the search lead before are helping build these tools.
What you might work on
Projects may include:
Learning how the current tools and workflows are used
Finding ways to make the tools easier to use and more reliable
Working with developers to define, test, and improve features
Prototyping new AI-enabled tools for acquisitions or youth sports businesses
Exploring how a useful tool could reach and serve its users
Testing small product ideas and gathering feedback
Some tools may be useful across the broader platform. Other ideas may become standalone products or open-source projects. Those possibilities are exploratory; the work will start with practical needs and small tests.
What you will learn
You will get direct exposure to a live acquisition search and see how technology can support real business work. You will also work with an experienced operator and a small technical team.
Depending on the timing of the search, you may observe diligence and deal execution. There is no expectation that deal work will be your main responsibility.
Who may be a good fit
You may be a strong fit if you:
Have experience or a strong interest in product, software, engineering, or applied AI
Want to learn how AI tools can support real businesses
Take initiative and can make progress on open-ended work
Can work independently and bring early ideas or a rough plan for discussion
Work well with developers and give clear feedback
Use good judgment about when to test an idea and when to check in first
MBA students are preferred. Exceptional undergraduate students with relevant product or technical experience are also welcome. You do not need to be a developer.
Schedule and location
This is a part-time, in-semester internship of about 10–20 hours per week. We can be flexible around your academic schedule.
The initial commitment is one semester. Depending on fit and progress, there may be an opportunity to extend through the spring or summer and help shape how this work develops.
For students based in Los Angeles, we expect one in-person day each week. We are especially interested in students at UCLA or USC. We are also open to students at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
