Job Title: Product Catalog Specialist
Monthly Pay: $3,484 - $5,204 USD per month
Summary:
Each shift begins with the product catalog queue, where new listings, attribute updates, and correction requests await review. This role sits within the product management team, works under a product management team lead, and keeps online product information accurate and easy to navigate. The specialist works with merchandising, supplier contacts, and ecommerce operations colleagues to resolve missing details before updates reach shoppers. This is a fully remote, desk-based work from home position in South Carolina, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review incoming catalog requests and supplier emails at the start of each shift, identifying requested changes, missing inputs, and publishing priorities assigned by the team lead.
- Compare supplied product identifiers, specifications, dimensions, and variant details with existing entries, flagging conflicting information before making changes to the product catalog.
- Maintain approved attributes in a product information management system such as Salsify, preserving consistent naming conventions and relationships between parent products and variants.
- Assign products to established categories and attribute groups, using the existing taxonomy rather than introducing unsupported classifications or changing the catalog structure independently.
- Check supplied image links and reference materials for correct product matching, and request replacements from merchandising or supplier contacts when information is incomplete.
- Prepare approved listing updates in a commerce platform such as Shopify, checking product status, category placement, variant choices, and displayed specifications before publication.
- Follow up on unanswered information requests, record outstanding questions, and escalate conflicting specifications or unclear category assignments to the product management team lead.
- Publish authorized changes through the established review process, then inspect the live listing to confirm that approved attributes and product relationships display correctly.
- Maintain clear change notes and request statuses so colleagues can trace completed updates, understand unresolved issues, and continue work without repeating earlier checks.
- Review completed work against accuracy, turnaround, complete notes, and follow-up expectations, correcting identified errors and carrying unresolved requests into the next shift handoff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- About 1-2 years of experience in product catalog maintenance, ecommerce administration, or related product information work preferred.
- Understanding of product identifiers, attribute structures, category hierarchies, and parent-product relationships across variants.
- Familiarity with a product information management system such as Salsify and maintaining consistent, structured product attributes.
- Familiarity with a commerce platform such as Shopify and reviewing online listings without altering approved merchandising decisions.
- Ability to compare source information, identify duplicate or inconsistent entries, and distinguish confirmed details from information requiring clarification.
- Clear written communication for supplier questions, internal handoffs, and concise explanations of catalog discrepancies and completed corrections.
- Access to a reliable computer, high-speed internet, and a quiet private workspace; availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Perks & Benefits:
- Fully remote work from home focused on desk-based product catalog maintenance and collaboration with ecommerce colleagues.
- Structured onboarding and training on a product information management system such as Salsify and a commerce platform such as Shopify.
- Regular check-ins with the team lead to review questions, priorities, and feedback on completed catalog updates.
- Opportunities to build product taxonomy, attribute verification, catalog quality review, and cross-functional coordination skills through daily work.
- Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), bonus opportunities, and stipends.
