About RAROG
RAROG’s mission is to safeguard lives by mastering wireless signals to make the hidden visible. This is why we develop detectors that help rescuers find people quickly based on the radio signals that everyday personal electronics emit. With first pilots live across the mountain rescue, firefighting and police sectors, RAROG is on the path to becoming the thermal camera for radio waves. Following our 2026 pre-seed round, we have secured funding to deliver on our current roadmap into 2028, backed by Venture Kick, Founderful Campus, Kickfund and experienced, engaged angel investors.
About the role
When rescuers search for a person, every second counts. RAROG detectors’ user experience and interface – the physical device in a rescuer’s hand as much as the screens they interact with – need to be intuitive, allowing rescuers to focus completely on finding the victim. As our Product Designer, you have the opportunity to help rescuers save more lives by crafting their user experience. You will shape this experience end to end: how RAROG looks, feels and functions for people using it under pressure, often in poor visibility and difficult terrain. The core detector technology is already live and our commercial team is gathering customer feedback from the field; your task is to turn that feedback into product and design decisions for new detector versions.
Key responsibilities:
- Define the UX and UI of RAROG’s handheld detector.
- Extend our branding (typography, color and visual language) into a coherent product experience.
- Iterate based on customer feedback and field usage: rescuers operating under time pressure need an interface that gets out of their way.
- Work with our commercial team to receive structured customer feedback and translate it into concrete interface and product decisions.
- Work directly with our CTO to understand the technical and physical constraints that shape the interface (e.g. dimensions and ruggedization requirements for field use).
- Join field visits to see the device in use first-hand.
Additional responsibilities:
- Refine the industrial design of the detector – housing form, button layout and feel, connector placement – so the physical device is as easy to operate under pressure as the screen.
- Prototype and help ship what you design, working alongside AI-assisted development tools – hands-on UI implementation is not required but is a strong plus.
Our ideal candidate
Someone who is laser-focused on ensuring that rescuers under stress can operate a RAROG detector without thinking about it, in any weather condition, so they can fully focus on quickly finding the people who need their help.
Requirements:
- Strong UX/UI design portfolio including embedded, hardware-adjacent or safety-critical products
- Comfortable turning customer feedback and field observations into concrete design decisions
- Fluent in English
- Structured, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity
Nice to have:
- Physical/industrial product design experience – or a credible foundation to develop it
- Familiarity with brand systems and visual identity work
- Interest in or experience with the rescue, safety or defense sectors
- Fluent in German and/or French and/or Italian
- Comfortable with prototyping tools to help ship your own designs
Our offer
An initial project-based engagement focused on RAROG’s product experience, with scope and timeline agreed together based on your proposed approach. For the right person, this initial engagement can grow into an ongoing collaboration with RAROG, with increasing ownership of product experience and design as the company grows – whether on a fractional basis or in a permanent role.
If you want to shape how a life-saving device actually feels to use, and your profile fits, please send us your portfolio and CV.
