- Some evening calls are required to accommodate multiple time zones.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5+ years of product development experience in furniture, home furnishings, or a related consumer product category, ideally working with overseas manufacturers. Relevant categories include lighting, home décor, textiles, outdoor products, cabinetry, millwork, and consumer goods.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Merchandising, International Business, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D design software, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. A portfolio demonstrating relevant work is required.
- Experience developing technical packages and specification sheets and managing multiple sampling rounds with manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes, including wood, metal, stone, glass, and textiles.
- Demonstrated costing, value engineering, and negotiation skills, with an understanding of wholesale pricing and gross margins.
- Proven ability to manage product development timelines and consistently deliver against key milestones.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, with examples of initiatives you have led.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT, and an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and workflows.
- Strong commercial awareness, including the ability to identify assortment gaps, pricing opportunities, and sales trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience building and maintaining vendor relationships across cultures and time zones.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of furniture construction, including case goods, upholstery, or outdoor furniture.
