Show job description
We're looking for a Product Manager to take real ownership of our new innovative customer app, DTCommand, working closely alongside development teams and design rather than sitting apart from them. This is more than managing a backlog: it's being accountable for whether DTCommand genuinely works for our direct and indirect customers and for the business, within the product direction set by the Head of Product.

You'll spend meaningful time with customers, test ideas before committing development time to them, and be trusted to shape not just what gets built, but why. Success in this role looks like DTCommand delivered well and adopted by customers, not simply features shipped on schedule.

This is a new role that is still taking shape, and so is how we work day-to-day: there's no fixed playbook to follow, so we're looking for someone who brings their own structure and good habits, rather than someone who needs a process handed to them.

Whilst initially this role is scoped to DTCommand, there is also the opportunity for the scope to broaden in the future. This role represents a genuine growth opportunity for someone who wants more than a single product to own long term.

Whilst this is a remote role, flexibility to attend our Telford office and meet with customers, partners and suppliers as required is important. We're looking for someone who is proactive in building relationships and maintaining a visible presence across the business, recognising when face-to-face engagement adds value.

Key Responsibilities

Ownership

  • Own the delivery of DTCommand, taking the agreed roadmap through to launch and into live service alongside development teams and design
  • Manage the backlog and plan releases, making sure work is clearly defined, scoped, and ready for development teams to deliver
  • Track DTCommand's KPIs post-launch and report of the KPIs, flagging where performance points to a change in direction
  • Bring customer insight and a delivery perspective into the product direction.

Customer understanding

  • Build a genuine, ongoing habit of speaking to customers, both direct and indirect, rather than treating it as an occasional check-in
  • Use what you learn to sense-check ideas early, through conversations, prototypes, or small experiments, before asking development teams to build something at full scale
  • Take the time to properly understand a problem before jumping to a solution, so the team isn't just building the first idea that comes up

Working with the team

  • Involve product design & development teams and design early, so their input shapes the solution rather than just its delivery
  • Write clear, well-thought-through requirements once direction is set, and stay closely involved through delivery
  • Be a credible, technically-minded partner to development teams on integration and platform decisions

Prioritisation and roadmap

  • Work with the product team on prioritisation across the needs of the business, bringing recommendations that balance customer value, commercial impact, and delivery capacity
  • Maintain the product roadmap and communicate agreed priorities, and the reasoning behind them, so stakeholders across the business understand what is coming, when, and why
  • Spot opportunities to grow DTCommand into new channels, segments, or related use cases, serving both direct and indirect customers, and build the case for considertion

Staying informed

  • Keep a current view of the market and competitor landscape, and let it genuinely inform decisions
  • Keep documentation clear and up to date so the wider business understands what we're working on and why

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential:

  • 3+ years in Product Management, with a track record of taking products from requirements through to successful launch
  • Experience regularly speaking with customers and using that insight to shape decisions and priorities
  • Comfortable working closely with Engineering / Development teams and design from early on, not just briefing them once decisions are made
  • Confident operating in ambiguity, able to bring structure to a fast-moving environment rather than needing it laid out for you
  • Strong stakeholder management: confident with senior leadership and technical teams, and able to push back constructively when needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including writing clear requirements

Desirable:

  • Experience in security, physical security, or a related hardware/software hybrid industry is a bonus but not essential
  • A track record of finding product-market fit or driving adoption in new commercial segments or geographies
  • Experience working across multiple countries or markets, and navigating the differences in customer needs and ways of working that come with that
  • Experience in a scale-up or startup environment, including zero-to-one product work
