Product Owner
Location: Remote (European Time Zone)
Contract Type: B2B
About Us: ETFBOOK is a Swiss SaaS company providing data, analytics, and custom solutions in the Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) space. Founded in 2020, we aim to make global ETF data accessible, actionable, and valuable for institutional participants, including ETF issuers, index providers, fund service providers, market makers, exchanges, and buy-side institutions.
We develop a platform which offers comprehensive insights through a user-friendly web application and robust APIs, covering areas such as product analysis, fund flow tracking, performance comparisons, and liquidity assessments.
About the role: We are looking for a Product Owner with a technical background and a keen interest in financial data analytics platforms. You will work on the ETFBOOK web platform, our flagship product, used by ETF issuers, index providers, market makers and other institutional clients. The platform is evolving quickly alongside a fast-growing client base, and your work reaches clients within weeks. Day to day, you will write and refine user stories with the squad, keep the backlog and board in order, agree what goes into each sprint, and test new developments from a product perspective before they go live.

Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience, ideally as a Product Owner or Product Analyst, or in business analysis, data analysis, engineering, client operations or an equivalent role.
- Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria in a squad based delivery model.
- Demonstrated ordering under constraint. Has cut scope, and can explain the trade-off.
- Willingness to learn the ETF basics quickly.
- Comfortable working with data directly, using SQL, Databricks or AI tools, and sanity checking numbers before they reach clients.
- Strong attention to detail. Spots inconsistencies across the platform, in data as well as in behaviour.
- Able to hold a sequence under pressure, and to say no to scope creep inside a sprint.
- Strong stakeholder communication with Business, Technology and client facing teams.
- Escalation discipline. Raises scope, date and commitment issues early and in writing.
- Comfortable working as a peer to the squad’s engineers and QA.
- English at C1 level, written precisely enough that a specification needs no clarification round.
- Capital markets or financial data exposure is an advantage.
- Project management experience is an advantage.
- Experience with analytics or BI tooling used by clients, not only internally, is an advantage.
- Familiarity with .NET, Azure and cloud based data processing architectures is an advantage.
- Manages the web platform squad’s backlog day to day, groomed one to two sprints ahead, in alignment with the Product Manager and the tech lead.
- Writes user stories and testable acceptance criteria that engineering does not need to reinterpret, agreed before work starts rather than negotiated at review.
- Keeps the board structured, clean and current, so that it is the single source of truth for what is planned, in progress and delivered.
- Runs refinement with the squad, and carries out product side testing of delivered work before it reaches clients.
- Owns the sprint goal, makes scope trade-offs mid-sprint without escalating every one, and writes release notes.
- Carries out product and competitor research where it is needed to prioritise well, and to write a story that solves the real problem.
- Ensures the squad uses the right data and presents it correctly, including field definitions, labels, and how they are shown to clients. Works with Data Analytics on any correctness issue in the underlying data.
- Acts as first line for client questions coming from the Client Support team, resolving what can be resolved, and routing patterns rather than individual tickets to the Product Manager.
- Works as a standing partner to the squad’s delivery lead and QA, and escalates capacity conflicts early.
- Organises and runs the bi-weekly sprint demo for the whole company.
- We are a fast-growing company. Priorities move, and everyone occasionally steps outside their role to help where it matters most.
- 100% remote work from anywhere within the European time zone.
- Competitive B2B contract.
- Exciting growth opportunities in a fast-paced startup.
- Impactful work: help revolutionise ETF data market, currently fastest growing area of finance.
- Have a real impact of developing products: your work will directly influence live projects, delivering measurable results in real-world applications.
- Culture of innovation: collaborate with forward-thinking professionals in technology and finance where experimentation and creativity are encouraged.
- Team- buildings events at least twice a year, hosted in various European locations.
