Senior Product Owner
Central Bristol (hybrid)

🚀 The Giant Minds of Software

We're a bespoke software development house with brilliant talent, proudly based in central Bristol. Working across different sectors and with the latest technology, we deliver exceptional software engineering through high-quality bespoke projects, helping technically ambitious companies meet their business goals.

We're purpose-driven but ambitious too, and you'd be joining us at a really exciting stage of growth.

📍 Central Bristol, hybrid | 💰 £61,700 to £67,100 + 8% non-contributory pension + profit share

The role:
As a Senior Product Owner, you'll own the product side of two or three client projects at once. Each project has a small team: you, a Project Manager, a Tech Lead, a few developers, plus our QA and Design people. The Project Manager looks after delivery, timescales and commercials, so your focus is the product itself.

You'll sit with the client, work out what they actually need rather than what they've asked for, and shape it into work the team can build. You're involved from the first discovery workshop through to release and beyond, and you're the client's main contact on product.

You'll play a key role by:
  • Leading discovery workshops and conversations to uncover what users and stakeholders really need
  • Making sure what we build lines up with the client's business case, and pushing back when the brief isn't what they really need
  • Shaping the solution with the client and team, and breaking it into epics and stories that are clear, complete and ready to build
  • Owning and prioritising the backlog across your projects, so the team always has good work ready to pick up
  • Managing specification sign-off and change, working with the Project Manager on the impact to timescales and cost
  • Building quick prototypes with AI tools to bring ideas to life and get client feedback early
  • Driving solution scoping in pre-sales, leading conversations with new and existing clients and shaping proposals and estimates with our sales team
  • Helping grow our product practice, sharing approaches and supporting less experienced POs
You should apply if:
  • You've got 5+ years in product ownership, product management or a closely related role like BA, within agile software delivery
  • You think about the strategy and the business case, not just delivering the backlog
  • You get to the real need behind a brief, and you're confident telling a client when what they asked for isn't what they need
  • You're thorough and detail-minded with a backlog, and you handle change properly
  • You understand enough of the technical side to discuss trade-offs credibly with developers
  • You're happy moving across different clients and domains rather than settling into one product
  • You're confident with senior client stakeholders, and you already use AI to work smarter
Nice to have:
  • Project or delivery management experience
  • Experience in a software house, consultancy, or agency
  • UX or user research experience
  • Software development experience

Why us:
We put real emphasis on employee happiness, and we're proud to have been recognised by Best Companies two years running, including as a top five small company to work for in the UK.
We’re working towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030, reducing our impact on the planet as we go, and we work with local partners to help reduce inequalities in our community.

What's in it for you:
  • An 8% non-contributory pension and profit share
  • A flexible approach to hybrid working and hours
  • Generous holiday, plus a company holiday and a personal morale budget
  • Group income protection, life assurance and wellbeing support
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
  • Electric vehicle scheme, plus cycle to work and discounted bus fares
  • A genuine investment in your growth and development
  • A relaxed central Bristol office with a stocked drinks fridge, snacks and a pool table

Everybody is welcome to apply. We're committed to building a team where everyone can thrive, whatever your background, united by one thing: building software better and faster. Even if you don't tick every box, tell us why you'd be a great fit.
