What Program and Project Management contributes to Cardinal Health
Transformation enables the organization to drive complex and transformational programs through disciplined project/program management and change management strategies.
Program & Project Management applies general business knowledge to plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, and timing for an administrative or business process. This job family organizes project teams, establishes project schedules and individual responsibilities, and determines resource requirements. Program & Project Management manages project budgets and reports on the status of project cost, timing and staffing. This job family also ensures adherence to internal external quality standards and integrates vendor tasks and deliverables into project plans.
Responsibilities
- Author comprehensive project charters and scoping documents for new and emerging initiatives—clearly establishing problem statements, quantitative business cases, boundary definitions (in-scope vs. out-of-scope), cross-functional dependencies, resource models, and tangible ROI/success metrics.
- Own the end-to-end journey of action items and project decisions—transforming steerco directives and working-session discussions into concrete, time-bound deliverables with assigned owners and transparent progress reporting.
- Establish and facilitate a disciplined multi-tier meeting and governance rhythm across working teams, cross-functional leads, and executive Steering Committees (~monthly/quarterly cadences).
- Ensure team members are accurately and timely updating key metrics and commentary to meet deadlines out reoccurring and program deliverables.
- Synthesize complex, multi-workstream dependencies, performance metrics, and financial impacts into crisp, high-level executive readouts, dashboards, and decision frameworks for senior leadership.
- Proactively identify systemic delivery roadblocks, cross-team frictions, and data dependencies; develop countermeasures and escalate to senior leadership with clear decision options.
- Prioritize transformation pipelines across a balanced portfolio—delivering short-term quick wins to build momentum while pacing mid-term workflow enhancements and multi-year architectural modernizations.
- Map and monitor cross-functional dependencies, handoffs, and friction points across upstream and downstream teams (Sales, Commercial Operations, Master Data, Billing, Sourcing, FP&A, and IT).
- Partner with solution owners from Enterprise IT, Data Engineering, shared service centers, and third-party vendors to coordinate the evaluation of technical options against operational problem statements—ensuring Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) align with enterprise architectural roadmaps (e.g., ERP migrations, cloud architectures, contract management systems, and master data hubs).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- 8-12 years of experience, preferred.
- Background in industries featuring complex multi-tier pricing models, B2B wholesale distribution, or healthcare ecosystems, preferred.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving global shared services, offshore delivery teams, or third-party service providers.
- Experience navigating large, complex, matrixed enterprise environments (Fortune 500, healthcare distribution, manufacturing, or wholesale distribution) preferred.
- Familiarity with contract, pricing, or revenue management systems (e.g., Vistex, Model N, Salesforce CPQ) preferred.
- Exposure to data analytics and process intelligence platforms (e.g., Celonis, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI) preferred.
- Baseline understanding of automation and modern AI capabilities (RPA, Agentic AI, document intelligence) preferred.
- Proven track record of leading steering committees and high-stakes working sessions with senior leaders, challenging assumptions constructively, and driving consensus across conflicting organizational priorities without formal authority.
- Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent, fast-paced workstreams with fluid scope, shifting dependencies, and competing resource demands.
- Deep fluency in structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Problem Solving, FMEA) to diagnose complex process failures and implement sustained controls.
- Ability to converse with both business executives and technical teams (enterprise architects, developers, and data scientists) to facilitate the translation of complex business needs into technical specifications.
- Uncompromising focus on milestone delivery, closure of open actions, and measurable business outcomes.
