About the Project
SWECS is a commercial electrical contractor headquartered in Converse, TX, running Spectrum (Trimble/Viewpoint) as its ERP. We are rebuilding how employer-paid fringe benefits (health, PTO, holiday, life, disability, 401k) are set up in Spectrum payroll, including union, wage and add-on codes for prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon jobs. We need a hands-on, dedicated resource to drive setup, testing and go-live alongside our Payroll Manager, HR and Accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Master data: Validate the employee benefit master file and fringe hourly rate calculations against vendor invoices and plan documents.
- Spectrum setup: Build and load union codes, wage codes, job settings, benefit tiers/overrides and add-on (U) codes using import templates for prevailing wage and non-DB employees.
- Testing: Test in the TST environment; reconcile payroll output and certified payroll reports to manual calcs; validate GL postings and department code mapping.
- Go-live support: Track uploads and issues, resolve differences, and support the production cutover.
- Handoff: Write step-by-step how-to documents, help design GL-to-invoice benefit reconciliations, and help hand off new hire add-on setup to HR.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction payroll, payroll accounting, or ERP payroll implementation experience.
- Hands-on payroll setup in a construction ERP; Spectrum strongly preferred (Vista, Foundation, CMiC or Sage 300 CRE considered).
- Working knowledge of union and prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon payroll, fringe benefit credits and certified payroll reporting.
- Strong Excel (lookups, pivots, reconciliations) and comfort with bulk data imports.
- Detail-oriented and well organized; documents sources, assumptions, exceptions and validation as standard practice.
Nice to Have
- Prior payroll system implementation or conversion project; multi-state payroll; 401k and benefits administration.
Deliverables by End of Engagement
Fringe benefit setup live in Spectrum production; testing and tie-outs documented with all issues resolved or documented; how-to documents for each setup step; and a completed handoff to Payroll and HR.
