Compensation Range:

$18.00 - $25.14

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The National Center for Deaf Health Research (NCDHR) is seeking an individual for the Project Assistant III position as Deaf Weight Wise (DWW) Coach, expected to run through September 2029, contingent on funding. This is a remote role, paid on a time-as-reported (hourly) basis.

This role plays a key role in guiding and shaping strategic implementation of the DWW healthy lifestyle program. Key focus areas of the program include nutrition, physical activity, weight management support, and coaching for NCDHR’s subcontractors

This role involves designing and leading advanced biweekly and monthly group facilitation sessions where you will apply your deep knowledge of DWW principles and evidence-based coaching to empower subcontractors, ensuring consistent program fidelity and high-quality execution in their designated areas.

The position requires substantial experience in an advisory capacity, motivational interviewing and data collection experience to maintain detailed documentation and ensure effective communication to support the DWW program. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining rigorous documentation standards and fostering high-level communication strategies to optimize the DWW program's effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and facilitate biweekly or monthly site coaching sessions with Deaf Weight Wise (DWW) implementation partners across assigned regions, ensuring each meeting drives toward strategic objectives.
  • Engage site supervisor and DWW coaches to identify and address implementation challenges, track progress against key milestones, and capture both qualitative observations and quantitative data.
  • At the end of the implementation phase, produce a comprehensive closeout report for each partner site. The report should include detailed findings, recommendations and lessons learned.
  • Lead the comprehensive documentation of critical discussions, strategic decisions, and subsequent action items, ensuring clarity and accountability across all sites.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with NCDHR personnel (and site DWW coaches if applicable) to optimize communication and ensure tracking of project progress.
  • Disseminate meeting outcomes and required documentation to partner sites and NCDHR, fostering a shared understanding of project status and facilitating timely follow-through.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of subcontractor information into REDCap to support program objectives and reporting requirements.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and manage urgent updates and critical issues arising from partner biweekly processes, and provide recommendations to NCDHR to mitigate risks and maintain project momentum.
    Participate in meetings and/or trainings provided by NCDHR, including orientation sessions to access REDCap, and university required training for employees.
  • Logistical planning and focus on project deliverables and timelines.
  • Participate in meetings with the DWW Community Committees once per month as expert consultant, gathering feedback from the DWW community committee, advise on curriculum on being culturally accessible, and identifying barriers and success of implementation process.
  • Other projects and job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience in lifestyle coaching, with a proven track record in project management and providing both individual and group coaching preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Expertise in counseling, lifestyle coaching, tracking health outcomes, and managing communication with various sites strongly preferred.
  • Native proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Certified Deaf Weight Wise Coach, Health Education, or Counseling preferred
