Company Description Endacho Healing Society (EHS) is an Indigenous-led organization advancing innovative approaches to trauma healing in the Northwest Territories. EHS is developing a culturally grounded healing program and a first-of-its-kind, bed-based Trauma Healing Lodge in the NWT. The Lodge will integrate Indigenous knowledge, land-based approaches, and Western therapeutic practices to support individuals and communities. EHS is focused on addressing a significant gap in services for people living with the impacts of residential schools and other forms of colonial trauma. Team members join a mission-driven environment committed to healing, cultural safety, and community wellness.

Role Description The Project Director is a 2-year full-time, role. The project is located in Yellowknife, but a remote/hybrid working location may be considered for the right candidate. This is not a conventional director’s job. You will work directly with our Board of Directors, Indigenous governments and communities, government partners, funders and professional advisors to see the opening of the Trauma Healing Lodge to fruition in 2029. Your work will span strategic planning, partnership development, funding, financial stewardship, and support to the Board of Directors. As part of a small, nimble organization, you will take an active role in both strategic leadership and the day to day activities that keep everything moving forward. One day you might be negotiating with senior government officials or advising the board on a major strategic decision. The next you might be preparing a funding application or organizing project records. We need someone who is a comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are leading at a senior level.

  • Demonstrated experience working respectfully with Indigenous governments, organizations or communities, ideally in the North, and an understanding of colonial impacts, cultural safety and trauma-informed practice.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe practices and the impacts of residential schools and colonial trauma on individuals and communities.
  • Solid organizational, planning, and coordination skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent written communication skills for reports, funding proposals, stakeholder updates, and internal communications.
  • Strong judgement and verbal communication skills and the confidence to engage senior decision-makers while staying grounded in practical work.
  • Experience with budgets, funding proposals, contribution agreements and accountability to funders.
  • Comfort working independently, setting priorities, managing competing demands and being personally accountable for getting things done.
  • Good digital and administrative skills.
  • Post-secondary education in project management, health or social services, Indigenous studies, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of learning, professional experience and demonstrated accomplishment.
