This is an exciting opportunity to join Somerset Council as a Project Management Apprentice. Through our two-year Level 4 Project Management Apprenticeship Programme, you'll gain valuable workplace experience while developing skills in project planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

You'll be supported by experienced colleagues throughout your apprenticeship and work towards a nationally recognised qualification, helping you build a strong foundation for a future career in project management.

About the Role

As a Project Management Apprentice, you'll support the successful delivery of the Connect to Work programme and help strengthen collaboration between employment, skills and inclusion services across Somerset. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll provide project coordination, administration, reporting and stakeholder support, helping ensure projects are delivered effectively and achieve positive outcomes for Somerset residents.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Provide project coordination and administrative support to the Connect to Work programme and associated projects.
  • Help maintain project plans, action trackers, risk logs and programme documentation.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations and performance information for a range of stakeholders.
  • Organise meetings, prepare agendas, take notes and monitor actions to support effective project delivery.
  • Assist with gathering, analysing and presenting information to support planning and decision-making.
  • Work with colleagues across employment, skills and inclusion services to support collaboration and information sharing.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce duplication and enhance the customer journey for residents.
  • Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation is organised and up to date.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and communications activities.
  • Complete your apprenticeship training and work towards a Level 4 Project Management qualification.

What You'll Bring

  • An interest in project management and service improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence building positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above, or a willingness to achieve these as part of the apprenticeship.
