About Slater Certified®
Slater Certified® is an AI-powered workforce development platform for the water and wastewater sector. It delivers self-paced training that prepares professionals for licensure and continuing education, built around G.A.I.L. (Generative Artificial Intelligence Learning) - an interactive tutor that gives real-time feedback, personalized explanations and adaptive support, so someone studying on demand still gets guidance. The flagship course is a 40-hour Wastewater Class 3 Operator Training recognized by the Georgia Secretary of State, alongside a 24-hour continuing education course and an industrial wastewater program. Organizations can run a customized version, Powered by Slater Certified®, against their own workforce.
Slater Certified, LLC is the workforce development arm of Slater Infrastructure Group, LLC - an Alpharetta, Georgia infrastructure services firm founded in 1997, working across operations and maintenance, construction engineering and inspection, and environmental services for public and private clients. Slater Certified launched in July 2025 and is licensed in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi.
The team is small and moves fast. Technology choices are modern and made by the people who have to live with them, so the distance between an idea and a decision is short, and the distance between a decision and shipping it is shorter. Work is remote and the schedule is flexible. Ownership sits with the person doing the work, and there is real room to shape how things get built rather than inheriting someone else's process.
Position summary
Slater Certified® is an AI-powered workforce development platform for the water and wastewater sector. We are selling and building at the same time, with a small team and a lot of moving parts: prospects in conversation, clients being onboarded, courses in development, and commitments made in a sales meeting that engineering then has to deliver.
We are hiring a Project Manager on a contract basis to be the bridge between sales and delivery. You hold the single picture of where everything stands - who is in the pipeline, who is in flight and how far along they are, what we can sell today, what is coming and when, and what each of those depends on. When sales asks whether we can commit to a date, you are the person who knows.
You will work directly with the VP of Sales, the CTBO and the engineering team, keeping logistics and pipeline moving. It is part project manager, part coordinator, part meeting facilitator - hands-on, no direct reports, and a lot of detail that nobody else is going to pick up. If it works on both sides, there is a path to converting it to a full-time position.
What this role owns in the first six months
-
One view of the pipeline and delivery that sales, engineering and leadership all use and all trust - not three spreadsheets that disagree.
-
The existing pipeline, built up so far by our business development lead, has been taken over and turned into something that runs as a system rather than living in one person's head.
-
Every client in flight has a plan, a timeline, a named status and a next action, current enough that nobody has to ask.
-
A standing, accurate answer to “what can we sell today, what is coming, and when” - so sales stops guessing and engineering stops being surprised.
-
Status reporting that leadership reads instead of requesting.
-
Meetings that end with decisions and owners rather than another meeting.
Key responsibilities
Bridging sales and delivery
-
Sit between the VP of Sales, the CTBO and engineering, and keep all three working from the same picture.
-
Translate what sales is promising into what engineering has to build, and flag the gap before a commitment is made rather than after.
-
Maintain what is sellable today versus what is on the roadmap, and keep that honest.
-
Chase the dependencies between the two sides - the content, the configuration, the approval, the answer from a customer - so nothing stalls quietly.
Pipeline and clients in flight
-
Take handover of the pipeline as it stands today from business development, and make it current, complete and usable by everyone who needs it.
-
Track prospects through the pipeline: where each one stands, what it is waiting on, what it would take to close.
-
Run onboarding for clients in flight end to end, from kickoff to go-live.
-
Keep the CRM and the delivery plan reflecting the same reality.
-
Be the point of contact who knows the status, and who tells a client before they have to ask.
Delivery with engineering
-
Own the Jira board: hygiene, flow, and whether it still describes how work actually moves.
-
Turn requirements into tickets with clear scope and acceptance criteria, and push back when a requirement is not ready.
-
Run the cadence - planning, standups, retrospectives - at whatever weight a small team can sustain without ceremony for its own sake.
-
Track work through the release path into TEST and on to production, and make sure nothing sits in a column because nobody noticed.
Meetings, status and reporting
-
Facilitate the meetings: set the agenda, hold the time, and leave with decisions and owners written down.
-
Produce status reporting an executive can read in two minutes and an engineer can trust.
-
Identify risks early, escalate with a recommendation rather than a question, and manage scope changes including the schedule consequence.
-
Own the administrative detail that keeps a small company moving - scheduling, follow-ups, documentation, the things that fall through when everyone is busy.
Working solo, and working remotely
-
This is a fully virtual role. You will work alone most of the day, with no one sitting next to you and no one checking whether you started.
-
Reach out first. Sales and engineers deep in their own work will not volunteer status, and waiting for it is how a week disappears.
-
Keep your own pipeline full - know what the next three pieces of work are, and go and get the direction you need rather than waiting to be handed it.
-
Say when you are blocked, early and in writing, rather than absorbing it quietly.
Must have
-
5+ years coordinating across sales and delivery - project management, program coordination, sales operations, or a role that sat between the two.
-
Has kept a client pipeline and a delivery plan in sync, and can describe how.
-
Commercially literate enough to sit in a sales conversation and understand what is being promised.
-
Technically literate enough to sit with engineers - can follow a conversation about environments, releases and dependencies without needing it translated, and can tell when an estimate does not add up.
-
Facilitates meetings that produce decisions and owners, not notes.
-
Writes status reporting that people actually read: short, current, and honest about what is at risk.
-
Genuinely organized, and willing to own the administrative detail - the follow-ups, the scheduling, the chasing - rather than treating it as beneath the role.
-
Excels working solo. This is a fully virtual role and long stretches of it are unsupervised.
-
Proactive about pulling work and direction - chases sales, engineering and customers for what is needed instead of waiting.
Nice to have
-
PMP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master or equivalent.
-
Hands-on with Jira, and with a CRM - HubSpot, Salesforce or similar.
-
Construction, wastewater, utilities or another infrastructure-sector background.
-
EdTech, LMS, credentialing or regulated-training experience.
-
Has worked in an early-stage company where the process did not exist yet.
-
Has run integration or implementation projects with a customer's own systems.
-
Has worked in a regulated or audited environment where documentation had to hold up to outside scrutiny.
