Project Manager

Which part of a defence project were you actually responsible for delivering?

That's the question behind several permanent Project Manager roles I'm recruiting for in Bristol.

The main requirement is for established Project Managers operating at Level 3, although credible Level 2 practitioners who have owned a defined project, work package or control account will also be considered.

The important distinction isn't simply which defence programmes you've worked on. It's what you personally took responsibility for delivering.

What the work involves

You'll be responsible for managing defined areas of MOD project delivery, including scope, milestones, performance, risks, issues and change.

You should be comfortable using cost, schedule and performance information to make decisions, addressing delivery problems and working with engineering, commercial, finance and project controls teams.

These are delivery-focused Project Management roles rather than PMO reporting, administration or dedicated planning positions.

What you must have

• Substantive Project Management experience within UK defence, with evidence of personal delivery accountability
• A recognised Project Management qualification
• Sole British nationality due to the security requirements of the work
• Current or previously held UK SC or DV clearance
• The ability to attend an MOD site in Bristol three days per week and manage a sustainable commute

APM PMQ is preferred, particularly for Level 3 appointments. Current clearance is advantageous, although previously held SC or DV is acceptable for consideration.

Salary and working arrangements

Permanent, full-time positions with a typical basic salary of £50,000-£58,000. Up to £60,000 may be considered for genuinely exceptional candidates.

The normal working pattern is 3 days on site in Bristol and 2 days working from home.
