The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Delivery Lead to lead the establishment and transition of a dedicated software maintenance and support function within a large digital services environment.

This is a strategic delivery role, focused on moving from a project-based software development model to a mature, sustainable continuous service and support operation.

You will take ownership of the end-to-end transition, establishing the operating model, service management processes, vendor resources and governance structures required to support critical digital platforms. Working closely with senior stakeholders, internal technical teams and multiple external suppliers, you will ensure a seamless transfer of responsibilities while maintaining service continuity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery professional with a strong background in IT service management, software delivery and complex technical transitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transition roadmap, overseeing the establishment, onboarding and stabilisation of a new dedicated maintenance and support function.

• Design and implement service management processes, support workflows and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Coordinate the onboarding and mobilisation of external engineering resources across multiple vendors, including development, DevOps and QA teams.

• Establish clear responsibilities and support boundaries between maintenance teams, existing development squads and cloud infrastructure teams.

• Manage the knowledge transfer process, ensuring technical documentation, standard operating procedures and maintenance runbooks are completed.

• Oversee the phased transition from development teams to independent maintenance operations, including shadowing, co-piloting and full operational handover.

• Define release management processes, CI/CD deployment governance and technical escalation pathways.

• Establish vendor governance frameworks, monitoring delivery milestones, service performance, resource utilisation and operational KPIs.

• Work closely with senior stakeholders to manage budgets, risks, dependencies and the overall transition programme.

• Drive the cultural and operational shift towards a continuous service management model.
  
  

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 5 years' experience in IT Project Management, Programme Delivery or Technical Delivery Management.

• Proven experience establishing, transitioning or managing software maintenance, production support or platform engineering teams.

• Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL principles.

• Experience defining and implementing SLAs, service management workflows, incident management processes and operational KPIs.

• Demonstrable experience managing blended teams and coordinating multiple external vendors or offshore delivery partners.

• Strong understanding of Agile software development, DevOps and modern cloud-based environments.

• Experience managing complex technical handovers and transitioning systems from active development into ongoing support.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, developers, infrastructure teams and external suppliers.

• Strong communication, planning and governance capabilities.
  
  

Desirable

• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum or ITIL v4 certification.

• Experience with Azure DevOps and cloud-native application support models.

• Experience managing technical debt and software maintenance backlogs.

• Previous experience within large-scale public-sector or complex enterprise technology environments.

• Rate: €600 per day.

• Location: Dublin City Centre.

• Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week.
