Help deliver the water infrastructure of the future

Anglian Water is progressing plans for two new multi-billion-pound reservoirs, the Fens Reservoir and Lincolnshire Reservoir, together with the associated water treatment and transfer infrastructure needed to create a new source of drinking water.

Together, these developments form the largest and most complex programme of work ever undertaken by Anglian Water. They will play an important role in securing resilient water supplies for communities across the East of England and East Midlands, whilst creating a lasting environmental, economic and social legacy.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who wants to apply their expertise to a programme of national significance. You will help take these major infrastructure projects through their critical front-end development, planning and procurement stages, turning an ambitious long-term vision into clearly controlled and deliverable outcomes.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for an allocated asset, delivery function or group of suppliers supporting either the Fens or Lincolnshire Reservoir.

Your work could span principal asset classes including the reservoir itself, water treatment works and associated water infrastructure. You will bring together technical, commercial, project controls and supplier teams to ensure that work is delivered safely, to schedule, within budget and to the required quality. You will:

  • Manage project risks, issues, opportunities, early warnings and changes through the appropriate controls and governance processes.
  • Monitor performance against agreed deliverables and milestones, identifying and clearly reporting any emerging variances.
  • Manage allocated suppliers, contracts, scopes, budgets, forecasts and detailed delivery schedules.
  • Work with technical and workstream leads to manage dependencies between suppliers, assets and programme teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost, schedule and delivery performance.
  • Provide visible leadership to multidisciplinary teams comprising Anglian Water colleagues, consultants, advisers and delivery partners.
  • Translate programme strategy into clear priorities, responsibilities and outcomes for the people delivering the work.
  • Support meaningful communication with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, local authorities, landowners and other third parties.
  • Produce clear highlight reports and present project updates through project and board-level governance.

Why join the Reservoirs Programme?

This is an opportunity to help shape infrastructure that will serve communities for generations. You will work at the centre of a complex and evolving programme, collaborating with leading technical experts, consultants, regulators and delivery partners. You will gain exposure to some of the most important challenges facing the water and infrastructure sectors, while continuing to grow your experience of nationally significant project development.

What does it take to succeed?

You will be an accomplished infrastructure Project Manager who is comfortable operating in a complex, highly regulated and multidisciplinary environment. You will bring:

  • Project management experience within infrastructure across the development lifecycle, from feasibility and design through planning, construction, commissioning and operation.
  • Strong project planning, prioritisation and decision-making skills.
  • NEC knowledge and practical contract management experience.
  • APM-PMQ, an equivalent project management qualification at practitioner level, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively, take ownership and communicate complex information with openness and clarity.
  • Knowledge and experience of CDM requirements and a safety first mind-set.
  • A full driving licence – travel between sites required.

Experience of major projects, the water sector, Development Consent Order projects or town and country planning would be particularly valuable.

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care
  • Life assurance (up to 8 x salary)
  • Personal accident cover (up to 5 x salary)
  • Double-matched pension (maximum 7% employee/14% employer contribution)
  • 26 days annual leave – rising with length of service and the ability to buy more
  • Excellent family friendly policies, such as 26 weeks full pay for maternity / adoption leave, as well as 4 weeks paid paternity / partner leave. Opportunity for shared parental pay
  • Bonus scheme
  • Flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle.
