Project Manager

Who We Are:

Marketlab is a market leading healthcare solutions organization specializing in the design, manufacturing, and sourcing of private label products. It’s our mission to provide our healthcare partners timely solutions with a straightforward approach based on knowing them and their work. Every day we strive to positively impact the lives of the people who in turn impact the health and wellness of our communities.

Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marketlab’s success is built upon a foundation of collaboration, innovation, and the belief that every team member plays a vital role in creating an exceptional customer service experience.

The Opportunity:

The Project Manager is the driving force behind execution of Marketlab's product development projects from approved scope through launch. This individual turns business and product direction into credible cross-functional plans, keeps dependencies, risks, actions, and decisions visible, and drives follow-through at the required level of readiness. Functional leaders retain their product, technical, quality, regulatory, sourcing, and manufacturing decisions; the Project Manager ensures the work is coordinated, sequenced, and escalated effectively.

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Integrated Project Planning: Translate approved scope into clear, cross-functional plans with milestones, owners, dependencies, decision points, and launch requirements.
  • Stage Gate & Governance: Administer Marketlab's product development process, prepare projects for gate reviews, and ensure required scope, evidence, approvals, risks, and open decisions are visible.
  • Schedule, Dependency & Critical-Path Management: Build credible schedules, identify the work that controls timing, and focus the team on constraints that could affect launch.
  • Risk, Issue & Change Management: Surface risks early, quantify their effect on timing and commitments, coordinate recovery plans, and replan when assumptions or scope materially change.
  • Execution Visibility & Decision Support: Maintain concise, decision-ready reporting on project health, schedule confidence, capacity constraints, major risks, and leadership decisions needed.
  • Project Tools & Process Discipline: Keep plans, action and decision logs, project records, and portfolio tools current while improving repeatable execution practices without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Accountability Without Authority: Create clarity, preparation, and follow-through across peers and leaders while respecting each function's decision rights.
  • Judgment & Escalation: Distinguish routine execution issues from material tradeoffs and escalate when a plan, commitment, or decision requires leadership attention.
  • Clear Communication & Facilitation: Run focused working sessions, document decisions and ownership, and communicate project status and risk in language that enables action.
  • Practical Problem-Solving: Bring structure to ambiguity, challenge weak assumptions, and balance speed, rigor, customer commitments, and operational reality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain integrated project plans that connect Product Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory, Creative, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Commercial milestones.
  • Own Stage Gate administration, meeting preparation, readiness standards, and follow-up for assigned product development projects.
  • Drive project cadence, actions, dependencies, decisions, and escalation from approved scope through launch.
  • Identify and manage the critical path, focusing cross-functional follow-through on the work most likely to affect launch timing or customer commitments.
  • Maintain a concise, decision-ready view of project status, schedule confidence, major risks, resource conflicts, and leadership decisions needed.
  • Challenge dates, sequencing, readiness, assumptions, and unowned work while leaving functional decisions with the accountable owners.
  • Monitor, propose, and implement Product Lifecycle Management process changes in a fluid business environment within requirements of applicable standards.
  • Coordinate recovery and replanning when testing, suppliers, requirements, approvals, capacity, or other assumptions materially change.
  • Facilitate productive project meetings, maintain clear action and decision logs, and close or escalate overdue commitments.
  • Manage cross-functional labeling workflows, schedules, dependencies, approval completeness, and escalation while accountable functions retain content and approval decisions.
  • Keep project plans, records, risks, decisions, milestones, and status current in the designated project and portfolio tools.
  • Use project performance, rework, missed commitments, and recurring delays to improve templates, standards, governance, and execution practice.

What You’ll Need:

Required

  • Minimum 5 years experience managing complex, cross-functional physical-product development projects from approved scope through launch.
  • Strong working knowledge of project planning, schedules, dependencies, critical paths, risks, issues, decision tracking, and stage-gate readiness.
  • Experience coordinating functions such as Product Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory, Creative, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
  • Ability to drive accountability and escalate effectively without relying on positional authority.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and concise project-status reporting skills - both verbally and written.
  • Experience using project-management and portfolio-management tools (such as Smartsheet, Asana, MS Project, or similar) to maintain credible plans and execution visibility.

Preferred

  • PMP certification or comparable formal project-management training.
  • Experience with development, manufacture, and commercialization of healthcare products, medical devices, or regulated products in a B2B distribution model.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, controlled product-development processes, or ISO 13485 environments.
  • Experience managing several concurrent projects with shared resources and competing priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, engineering, operations, supply chain, or a related field.

Benefits:

  • Paid parental leave
  • Scholarship reimbursement
  • 401k match
  • Benefits effective day one of employment
  • Paid short term disability leave
  • Flexibility with work from home
  • Generous PTO policy that starts on day one
  • Paid holidays
  • Health and wellness program
  • Employee discount program within our family of companies
