Role Summary
Project Manager (Tobacco Industry)
We are seeking a highly organized, strategic, and process-driven Project Manager with 3 to 5 years of experience in the tobacco industry to lead cross-functional business, supply chain, and technology initiatives. Operating within a highly regulated global framework, you will take full ownership of project lifecycles, bridging operational teams, compliance officers, and executive leadership.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Lifecycle Management
- End-to-End Execution: Lead the planning, monitoring, and closing of complex, cross-functional projects within our tobacco portfolio.
- Schedules & Resources: Develop integrated project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and resource allocation plans using tools like MS Project, Jira, or Asana.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Leadership
- Matrix Management: Assemble and coordinate decentralized project teams across Supply Chain, Legal/Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, IT, and Manufacturing.
- Vendor Management: Supervise external vendors, agencies, and third-party contractors to guarantee delivery against contractual SLAs.
Risk, Budget, & Change Control
- Financial Oversight: Establish, track, and optimize project budgets, proactively addressing cost variances.
- Mitigation & Control: Identify operational bottlenecks early and maintain a rigorous change control process for modifications in project scope or resources.
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
- Executive Reporting: Design and deliver transparent status reports and dashboards for senior leadership and steering committees.
- On-Site Alignment: Travel to locations in Germany to embed with on-site operations, manage localized system implementations, and facilitate alignment workshops.
📋 Requirements
Professional Experience
- Industry Tenure: 3 to 5 years of dedicated project management experience specifically within the tobacco industry (or highly adjacent, strictly regulated sectors like FMCG, Pharma, or Alcohol).
- Track Record: Proven success guiding projects through complex regulatory pipelines, supply chain shifts, or international product launches.
Technical & Domain Expertise
- Industry Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of tobacco product lifecycles, manufacturing constraints, global logistics, or compliance mandates (e.g., TPD, track-and-trace systems, advertising restrictions).
- Tools Master: Advanced command of PM software (Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, Smartsheet).
Certifications & Language
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, IT, or a related field.
- Certifications: Active PMP or PRINCE2 certification is strongly preferred.
- Languages: Complete professional fluency in English is mandatory. Working proficiency in German is highly advantageous.
