This role goes beyond project coordination, offering the opportunity to lead site activities, manage contractors and provide technical oversight across a varied portfolio of capital delivery projects.

This is a permanent role within our Capital Delivery team. You'll work closely with operational teams, contractors, engineers and stakeholders to ensure projects are well planned, effectively managed and delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

You'll be responsible for overseeing works from initiation through to close-out, supporting project controls, compliance activities and contractor performance while ensuring our assets continue to operate safely and reliably.

A company car is provided and, as this role requires regular travel across the network, a full UK driving licence is essential.

Why you'll love this role:

  • Project Delivery – Lead the delivery of investment projects across the network, ensuring activities are completed safely, on time and to budget.
  • Safety & Compliance – Champion compliance with Safe Control of Operations (SCO), CDM requirements, G17 processes and company standards.
  • Site Leadership – Carry out site visits and provide assurance that works are being delivered safely and in accordance with approved plans and procedures.
  • Contractor Management – Act as Cadent's day-to-day interface with contractors, monitoring performance and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
  • Technical Oversight – Support project planning, business case development, design assurance and technical compliance activities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with Capital Delivery, Operational Performance, Engineering, Commercial, Procurement and external suppliers.
  • Performance Monitoring – Track project spend, manage forecasts and ensure accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement – Promote lessons learned, best practice and process improvements across project delivery activities.

What you'll bring:

  • Project Delivery Experience – Experience delivering engineering, construction, utility or infrastructure projects.
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge – Strong understanding of health and safety requirements, risk management principles and safe systems of work.
  • Contract Management Experience – Ability to manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with project and contractual requirements.
  • Technical Understanding – Knowledge of engineering standards, operational processes and project delivery methodologies.
  • Stakeholder Management Skills – Experience building effective relationships with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Capability – Confidence managing issues, making decisions and driving projects to successful completion.
  • Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications:

  • HNC, SNVQ, NVQ or equivalent operational experience in network engineering techniques supported by relevant qualifications.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • SCO Authorising Engineer (AE) and Competent Person (CP) certification. (desirable)
