Check the approved facts before a message is used
The Promotional Copy Proof Assistant checks a draft promotional message against facts the marketing team has supplied: names, dates, prices, product references and destination wording. You would identify a mismatch, a missing detail or an obvious typing error and send a precise note to the person responsible for the copy. This remote role is an administrative proofing step. You would not invent a new offer, decide whether a claim is legally acceptable or publish copy without approval.
A draft can be persuasive and still contain a wrong date. Conversely, unusual wording may be deliberate and approved. Your task is to compare the draft with the current source, not impose a personal writing style. If a price or eligibility claim is absent from the approved information, flag it; do not research a similar offer and fill in the blank. If two source documents conflict, ask which one is authoritative. A useful proof leaves a clear decision for the content owner rather than silently changing material you cannot verify.
The proof and its record
You might receive an online document and an approved brief. Read the draft once to understand the message, then compare the specific facts the brief lists. Record the location of an issue and the source that shows the expected detail. If you are authorised to correct a plain typo, make the edit and note it. A substantive claim, new price or altered call to action goes back to the owner. After changes are made, check the new version rather than assuming the earlier proof still applies.
The job differs from link testing and asset assembly. It focuses on the words and factual references in the message. A wrong event date could mislead readers even when every link works, while a misplaced link belongs to another check. Your note should distinguish a confirmed error from a question. That helps a colleague make an informed decision quickly.
You may review:
You would review names, titles, dates, times and prices against the current approved brief. When a detail does not agree, identify where it appears in the draft and which source shows the expected value. A plain typo may be within the correction authority given to you; a new claim or altered offer belongs with the copy owner. Mark each note as corrected, questioned or waiting for approval so the next reviewer can see what remains open.
A revised draft needs another check of the affected detail. A date fixed in one paragraph may still be wrong in a heading or call to action elsewhere. Do not turn a proof into a broad rewrite of the campaign’s tone, and do not treat a conflicting pair of source documents as permission to pick the more attractive version. Ask which is current. The final result is a precise record of checked facts and remaining decisions, not a personal assessment of whether the message is persuasive.
The work can be done through shared online documents and a task board. You should be comfortable reading carefully and writing a specific comment without turning every sentence into an edit. The employer will train its brief format, approval route and the scope of a proof. Previous marketing, customer service or office administration experience is useful but not necessary. Applicants with little formal experience are welcome if they can compare text with a source and recognise when a claim needs someone else’s judgement.
A home office area suited to focused reading can help with this remote work. You may handle several pieces of copy at different stages; keep the version numbers or document links distinct. The opening may be arranged for either full-time or part-time hours, at £29.50–£31.50 hourly. The company will explain its content review process during selection.
Application route
If you have proofread a notice, compared a draft with instructions or caught an incorrect date in another setting, that experience is relevant. You need not present yourself as a copywriter. The employer will teach its materials and expects care with approved facts. If you’re selected for the next step, you may be asked to complete an application on the hiring company’s website. Make your attention to detail and clear written feedback evident in the initial application.
