About the Opportunity

NAIT’s Department of Advancement and Alumni Relations is seeking a Prospect Research Coordinator to join our team in a two-year temporary position, with the possibility of extension. This is an exciting time of growth and opportunity for Advancement, as NAIT is currently in the silent phase of a comprehensive fundraising campaign. Additional prospect development capacity is essential to building and managing the pipeline required to achieve our fundraising goals.

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Prospect Research Coordinator provides research, analysis and portfolio and pipeline support to inform fundraising strategy and decision-making. The position works closely with fundraisers and Advancement leadership to identify and qualify prospective donors, provide strategic prospect intelligence, support due diligence, and help ensure fundraiser portfolios and the broader prospect pipeline are positioned to support campaign and institutional priorities.

The successful candidate will bring strong research, analytical, writing and organizational skills, along with sound judgment and the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources. This role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, build strong internal relationships and translate research and data into clear, actionable insights.

The Prospect Research Coordinator serves as a key resource within Advancement and Alumni Relations, supporting prospect identification, qualification, research, due diligence, portfolio management and pipeline development.

The position conducts research on individuals, corporations and foundations; prepares prospect profiles, briefing notes and other research products; and analyzes information related to philanthropic capacity, affinity, relationships and giving potential. The Coordinator also supports the ongoing management of fundraiser portfolios and the overall fundraising pipeline by identifying gaps and opportunities, monitoring prospect movement and supporting assignment and qualification processes.

Working collaboratively with fundraisers, Advancement leadership and colleagues across the department, the Coordinator brings together information from internal and external sources to support evidence-informed fundraising strategies and campaign priorities.

  • Analyze portfolio and pipeline information and prepare reports, lists and other materials to support Development leadership and fundraising planning.
  • Support the development and maintenance of campaign pipeline tools, including gift tables and analysis of prospects at key campaign gift levels.
  • Conduct benchmarking and other strategic research to support Advancement priorities and institutional decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain research processes, procedures, templates and documentation and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Advancement and Alumni Relations to support strong data quality and consistent prospect development practices.
