This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a master's-prepared nurse or an RN pursuing a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree who enjoys therapeutic patient engagement, evidence-based behavioral health interventions, and collaborative psychiatric care.
At YWS, we believe exceptional healthcare begins with compassionate providers and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. Our integrated healthcare model brings together psychiatry, primary care, behavioral health, nutrition, and other specialties to support whole-person wellness.
Our patients include adolescents ages 16 and older, adults, military personnel, veterans, and individuals experiencing complex behavioral health challenges.
We are looking for a nurse who combines strong clinical experience, excellent communication and writing skills, technological proficiency, and a genuine passion for helping patients improve their mental health.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide RN-level therapeutic counseling, supportive behavioral health interventions, and psychoeducation within a collaborative psychiatric provider team.
- Conduct psychiatric nursing assessments and support individualized behavioral health treatment plans.
- Assist patients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma-related conditions, and substance use disorders.
- Apply evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic communication.
- Facilitate structured psychoeducational groups as needed.
- Prepare accurate clinical documentation and high-quality clinical summary letters demonstrating exceptional professional writing skills.
- Collaborate with psychiatric providers to support patient progress, care coordination, and continuity of treatment.
- Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive care through secure telehealth platforms.
All clinical services must remain within the RN's authorized professional scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license with authorization to practice in the state where patients are located.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or current PMHNP program enrollment strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience; 3–5 years preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in therapeutic counseling, behavioral health interventions, and patient psychoeducation.
- Experience working with patients diagnosed with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
- Exceptional clinical writing skills, including the ability to prepare detailed, professional clinical summary letters.
- Strong proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), Microsoft Word, Excel, and telehealth technology.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, clinical judgment, organizational skills, and patient engagement abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary psychiatric team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing or current enrollment in an accredited PMHNP program.
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC).
- Experience with CBT-informed interventions, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, or group psychoeducation.
- Experience working with veterans, military personnel, or patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.
- Previous outpatient behavioral health or telehealth experience.
Compensation & Work Arrangement
- $44–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- 1099 independent contractor engagement, subject to applicable classification requirements.
- 100% remote telehealth position.
- Initial anticipated service commitment of 16 hours per week, with the opportunity to increase to 24 hours as the patient caseload grows.
- Flexible patient scheduling based on mutually agreed availability.
- Access to a collaborative psychiatric provider team and professional clinical consultation.
