You’re agile, keen and open to meaningful work and opportunities that come your way.

You're ready to help shape our narrative. Your expertise will amplify the impact of initiatives, foster public trust and ensure our stakeholders are engaged and empowered by what we do.

In this role, you'll:

Join our Operations Communications team where you will support the delivery of proactive and real-time communications for public transport services, disruptions, operational readiness activities, key projects and emergency events. You will help create clear, accessible and timely information for customers, communities and public transport operators.

Working with teams across Transport and a range of external stakeholders, you will develop content, coordinate communications activities and support consistent messaging across traditional and digital channels.

You will:

  • Deliver proactive and real-time communications support for public transport operations, including operational readiness projects, disruptions, crisis and emergency management activities.
  • Develop clear, accessible and customer-focused content for service updates, communications plans, publications and digital channels.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with public transport operators, project teams, customers, communities and other stakeholders to support effective communications and engagement.
  • Coordinate the review, approval and delivery of communications materials, ensuring information is accurate, timely and suited to the audience.
  • Support media activities by monitoring emerging issues, preparing responses and identifying potential opportunities.
  • Consider customer and stakeholder feedback and contribute to improvements in communications and the customer experience.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering hybrid working options, and is ideally located at our Newcastle office. Applications from candidates located in Sydney, or close to other major regional office hubs may also be considered.

About you

You are a capable communications professional who can turn complex or operational information into clear, practical messages for different audiences. You work well with a broad range of stakeholders, balance competing priorities and remain calm and responsive in a fast-paced operational environment.

You bring strong communication planning, stakeholder engagement and content development skills, along with experience creating customer-focused communications across traditional and digital channels. Your ability to adapt your approach, manage deadlines and deliver accurate information will help support positive customer and operational outcomes.

You possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing content and supporting communication plans or campaigns across traditional and digital channels. You are organised, responsive, able to manage competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and a strong customer focus and have a genuine passion for advocating for regional NSW.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, are essential, along with a willingness to work outside normal business hours on occasion.
